Rohit has his flaws but at home he is a must. He adds so much as an opener.

I myself got frustrated of him and asked him to be dropped. However I’ve been a longtime fan of his.

He’s a lazy enigma... just enjoy till he calls it a day. Could be pretty soon. It’s unfortunate that India missed out of a great captain of LOI teams due to Kohli hype...

I don't know why people underrate Rohit. Irrespective of his short test career, he will rank as one of the finest batsman in history of Indian cricket. An ATG Indian batsman if you consider our history of 80 odd years.  Thankfully he has come a long way from the "talent" bakchodi.

Very good knock today, but how is this going to cost us in a long run ? Another 2-3 years of inconsistent performance will mean another talented youngsters career killed .

Rohit got his opportunity because others (Rahul, Shaw, Mayank, before them Dhawan and Vijay) could not fully grab their chances. If say Shaw and Mayank had done well in one out of NZ and Australia, Rohit's test career would have been over.

 

So better to accept whatever Rohit is offering - Bradmenesque at home, above average outside for the next couple of years (till 2023 WC). By then hopefully Shaw would have sorted his technical glitches and along with Gill and Mayank, will remain our three top openers for next 5-6 years.

No problem if Rohit even plays that kind of knock once in a series..  It's just that inconsistency.  Last ton he scored was vs SA in 2019.. 

He will become an Indian ATG for sure if he does well for us in next one & a half years.

Granted this will change when teams start making plans for him, but as of now he is a solid player. People think of him as bits & pieces because his primary role in the team was supposed to be bowler who can bat a bit, but it looks like he is a primarily a batsman who can bowl too. The sooner they realize this, the sooner the tag will go.

He is definitely a Test Match player.

 

As said many times before, ROHIT is a truly gifted batsmen. He can do things which the rest simply cannot.

 

He should be picked in all Test Matches until he retires (i.e around end of 2023).

 

Enjoy his batting while he is still around.

 

He should have played 100 test matches by now if not for mismanagement. 

 

I consider him in top 6 Indian Batsmen ever (including S Gavaskar, S Tendulkar, R Dravid, V Sehwag, V Kohli & R Sharma) even though he has only played 36 Test matches.
