problem is who will takeover the GOAT captain rahane? as long as goat captain keeps winning he wont be dropped. he is a terrible batsman. Lets just say he gets dropped and kohli isnt available, who becomes captain for test 2? Assuming no rohit either.

ash?

Pant

he'll be all format captain after 2023

Yes, Ashwin , not Pant , he is too inexperienced for test captaincy .

none of this trio will be booted any time soon. it is clear that Indian TM will "back them to the hilt" (whatever that means), irrespective of how they do

IF Rahul dravid/ Tendulkar/Laxman had averaged 20 plus in a two year period hell would have broken loose.

It will be a 3 year period in just over a day. THREE years of pitiful returns. Would have been sacked in most areas of life for such non-performance.

there was a lot of discussion about Endulkar during his 2 yr slump, although 1 of those 2 yrs was decent.

Even the ever diplomatic cricinfo has started anti-kohli articles... they have even mentioned that Kohli should go on an actual fishing trips to stop his fishing outside the off stump:phehe:

they are boot-lickers and status-quo upholders. once Brat makes a 50 or 100, they will go back to singing praises of him.

Rahul dravid definitely had a hugh 20s averaging 10+test matches streak.

Kohli has played 15 in last 2 years, so its close.

So just because dravid has bad avg in last 2 years kohli also justified to have it. what about dravid averaging around 60 for 6-7 years.

What about Kohli averaging 56 in 2019 (55.90 to be exact) and nearly 70 for 4 years?

It's okay to have a bad patch, but yes I agree that Kohli should show us something of worth in this series.

He still dint have longevity of Dravid and Tendulkar in terms of consistently scoring in test. He declined very soon, Tendulkar and Dravid were consistently scoring above around 65 for a decade. Also glaring weakness against swing and any kind of spin which kohli have and he doesn't have a backfoot game at all, that's the reason he looks complete dud against all kind of bowling. Only think he can handle right now is pace bowling on flat pitches even with that he din't score a 100 for more than 2 years now in any format.
