How long left for Pujara, Kohli & Rahane?

Rahane actually has decent numbers at home...more than what i expected.

Re replacing them, honestly its not as if you have  plethora of young batsman just ready .

Bowling + batting depth might be best option for india this year till Sa series. Beyond that make changes.

Based on ICF's stock market prices today

poor performers - Bumrah, Ishant, Pujara, Kohli, Gill, Ashwin (only 3 wkts on a tailored pitch for an experienced spinner) -> out

Rohit (scored a 50)

Shaw (the one not playing)

Agarwal (the one not playing)

Rahane (still at the crease)

Vihari (the one not playing)

Pant (still to bat)

Sundar (still to bat)

Jadeja (the one not playing)

Axar (6/38)

Shami (the one not playing)

Siraj/Umesh (the one not playing)

Check back tomorrow for that day's 11

pujara fitness will create a problem for him before other 2

rahane inconsistent the kya hia farq padd jayega

Kohli is really fit if he leaves captaincy he can become beast of batsman again

worry would be whom after them coz the bench for red ball batsman isnt very exciting as of now

Option 1

If Pujara phases out, Gill can drop to number 1 with Mayank opening. That should work atleast for short to mid term , we will need to keep on searching though. Easwaran can be a backup opener under consideration.

Option 2  I don't mind Pant coming at 5 as a specialist batsman as it is pretty clear now that he can qualify in the playing 11 as a batsman alone and does not need to be force fitted as a keeper batsman only. Vihari can be an option as well.

Option 3 Sundar is another one who can be groomed for that number 6 as a batting all rounder while Pant can be the wk-batsman at 5. So we are not out of options, but ofcourse we can't expect out of box thinking from Kohli.

I have hopes for Priyam Garg but he needs to have 2 seasons of solid Ranji and A tour first.

Mayank technique overseas is quite  problematic .

Priyam garg technique is also not that great.

I wud wanna see KL back n see how much has he improved with red ball. Also hoping shaw comes good, too good a player to miss out.

Ruturaj is another one who has technique for overseas.

Jaiswal another one whom ill be interested in

I understand people consider Pujara winning 2018-2019 series in Australia for India. but why does everyone think Pujara won us recently concluded series. From what I watched and I watched almost the entire series, His contribution was decent but nothing to be hailed as he won the series for us.

FYI, Pujara was actually brilliant in this series too:

  • Adelaide (pink ball test): played out 2 sessions on day 1. 2nd innings was a washout for the whole team
  • Melbourne: Came in as a virtual opener to forge a partnership (1st inning). In the 2nd innings got out playing casually with victory in sight
  • Sydney and Brisbane: legendary performances including in 4th innings. Most 50+ scores for Ind in the series, hitting 3 50s in his last 4 innings
  • Balls faced in the series = 928, which is over 100 balls per inning (116)
  • Guided youngsters such as Gill and Pant during p'ships, making them feel confident to play their strokes knowing Pujara was at the other end if they got out
  • Most of his innings (if not all) were almost chanceless iirc. While many of Ind batsmen received many chances

Don't disagree with the summary except the fact that there was nothing legendary about his series performance. Balls faced would not mean anything if you don't cash in and put runs on the board.  It felt like he was dragging the partnerships than guiding them.

Gill, Pant are confident batsmen and not because of Pujara. They would play same and play well even if Pujara were to vanish tomorrow.

Obviously we dont think alike and as cricket fans have our own understanding of the game.

Let's not forget that Pujara's knocks were almost chanceless securing confidence for Ind ... Experts like Gavaskar for e.g. have praised Pujara too

Brisbane Test: Cheteshwar Pujara’s presence at the crease gave license to others, reckons Sunil Gavaskar

Jaiswal is definitely one for future and that too as a left handed opener. It's unfortunate that no Ranji this year deprived him and others the development opportunity.

Wtf are you talking about? Pujara was struggling in Sydney against Lyon before pant hit him out of the attack. At least watch the game and understand the context.
