He will take chances. A risk taking young player. It is all fine and dandy when it comes off. If you are a specialist batsman pressure will be higher on him to deliver. That is when things can go awry. Ashwin as a batsman flourished because of this. Put him at no.3 no.4 he might be exposed.

Put him at no.3 no.4 he might be exposed. irfan pathan was a bowler who could bat a bit. sundar, even up to U19 and FC level, is a batsman who could bowl a bit. by trying to make him bowl more (not less), we are going the irfan route. the way to avoid the irfan route is to make him bat more and higher up the order. I think on current form KLR would merit selection in middle order. jaddu could bat at 6, although I am not sure if 5 is suitable for him. Number 1

Can he bowl ten overs in every match is the question which needs to be asked and can he use long handle .Answer to both questions is no at the moment.

I agree pant shud be given a shot at opening and the kind of talent he shud be tried everywhere. With some players like rohit n pant u need to find a way to fit them in KL owns the no.5 spot Jaddu i wud like at 4, need a leftie at 4 between kohli n KL to decrease the leg spin issue those 2 having

Sundar is the only one who offers us this choice. If it mean playing him at 1-2-3-4, let it be. He has shown enough batting strength in tests to be fully backed in LOIs
