That's the only issue I see at the moment. Guys like Archer, Bumrah, Shami, Cummins etc will just bowl well directed short balls at Shaw, he needs to be smart & play around that.

Difficult to judge a batsman's technique against the moving ball when there is no movement on offer. He was indeed playing away from his body and there was a gap between bat and pad. But these are conditions suitable for this kind of game. He did make the most of the powerplay with this method.

No need to rein him in. That approach has got him a record 800+ run in VHT. Yes he can be a bit smarter which he will learn as he plays more. But like Sachin told him,no need to change too much.

 

We have far too many accumulators at the top of the order. Good to have dashers.

Having said that if an opener scores 73 of 39 balls in a 320 run chase, he has done his job & played a match winning innings. The others need to just play smart.

Mavi is back to near full pace.

 

Bowling style is that of a fast bowler too ... either hitting the deck hard for bounce or zipping the ball through.

 

A bit more seam movement and accuracy and he will be right up there.
