We remember Adelaide because we won. Southampton win would have made us draw the series as India wouldng have gone for a win in Oval and would have easily drawn it. Though on hindsight that Oval knock changed Pant forever and led to the greatest 4th innings chase of all time..

Let's not forget Pujara was not played in the 1st test, which Ind lost narrowly ... Pujara could have made a difference there too

 

Ind tends to do poorly in 1st test, Adelaide 2018 was a rare event mainly because of Pujara ... one of the reasons, I rate that knock highly too

Terrible stats...  He failed to make a single half century for Yorkshire in 2018.  His critics say his timing is so bad that ball barely goes out of circle. 

He has played in lower divisions as well but horrible performances. 

Overall 29 average in 36 games (including games in lower divisions)

Nobody looks forward to watching Pujara bat anymore. Its so one dimensional.

FYI, a beginner's guide to cricket's batting order:

 

The batting order is colloquially subdivided into:

• Top order (batters one to three)
• Middle order (batters four to seven; which can also be divided into:)
  • Upper middle order (batters four and five)
  • Lower middle order (batters six and seven)
• Tail enders (batters eight to eleven)

I'm telling facts that others have pointed out. how is it writing against him. He has been averaging in the 20s for a while now. his ability to stonewall is great but he hasn't scored enough runs either.

Buddy, I care for your opinion. As I mentioned somewhere, he may not be in a purple patch or best of form recently but his greatness is that he is still make an impact. For e.g. batted relatively well in the top order in NZ (got out to good balls), in Aus scored 3 impactful knocks in the last 4 innings (also played out sessions in the 1st 2 tests to see off the new ball - virtual opener with Shaw and Mayank getting out cheaply). Most of his innings are relatively chanceless 

 

When in good form, we all know what he did!

The only good thing about him is that he doesn't try to get himself out. I didn't watch the NZ series but from Aus series I can say that the balls he got out to were made to look like a peach because of his batting technique. He plays with his bat pointing towards mid on whereas Shaw's bat point towards mid off or covers. So while Shaw is susceptible to getting bowled, Pujara is more susceptible to edging balls bowled in the channel that straightens. If his bat ends up pointing straight, he could have defended these deliveries rather than nicking them. He is susceptible to the incoming ball, so might have challenge to counter the movement in England

Pujara is not scoring runs anywhere anymore. At best, he will hold one end but I think he and Rahane are past their peak after the Australia tour. WTC will be their final chance at glory. India is going to struggle in the next 2 years Pujara for sure.

Pujara fans sometimes overrate him very much..  He is nowhere near Dravid.  Dravid has more than 10K ODI runs plus many more shots in him & also he was way better timer of the ball.

Don't overcook it. SRT, RD, VVS, SG would also have more success if they had the bowling lineup we have today. Cricket is a team sport and hopefully Pujara will be a vital cog in the wheel for another few years.
