Australian spinner Nathan Lyon slams critics for 'crying' over Motera pitch

Australian spinner Nathan Lyon has lent his support to the pitch as he said that 'everyone in the world seems to start crying’ when the ball starts spinning.

 

"We play on seaming wickets around the world and get bowled out for 47, 60. Nobody ever says a thing," Lyon told AAP.

"But as soon as it starts spinning, everyone in the world seems to start crying about it. I don't get it. I'm all for it, it was entertaining.

"I was up all night watching it. It was absolutely brilliant. I'm thinking about bringing that curator out to the SCG," he added.

I am not sure if going with more spinners would have changed the results, especially now that we know what was really required was batters who could handle spin or the lack of it

wickets going down to spin wouldnt have mattered as much, if the pitch gives you grip, turn and bounce without the soil crumbling underneath of it..Some of Axars deliveries kind of exploded after pitching as though it landed in a volcano...But yes, I am not complaining...England deserved that

More volcanos were in Chennai day 1 than here on day 2.

No but he would be a perfect spin bowling coach for any teams when he retires ( 10 teams in 2022 anyways). He rose from pitch curator to the best off spinner. Ask any Indian batsmen the only spinner they feared in last 12 years is him. Before that it was Graeme Swann..

Though T3 was a letdown good to see the existing narrative being challenged. Lyon jumping in and going against the MCC old boys' club narrative is good for us.

He has a point no need to be cynical abt it. Why is spin the only problem spinners are difficult to negotiate its not that pace bowlers are inherently more difficult to negotiate. Enjoy the dominance of spin.

There are people above calling him ipl contract chaser. And lyon is a very good international class spinner he gives expert validation.

When I said IPL contract I meant it in a condescending way. We don't need Lyons or any ones approval about our pitches. 

 

If seaming green tops are fair then so are the pitches for this current series vs England.
