Indeed. I was one of them last year. Always helps to stop watching news media.  It’s fear porn. As bad as it looks, it is not nearly as bad as it could have been considering the inherent realities we are dealing with. Amidst stark realities and hard wired people and inefficient govts, this country is still going to pull through.

it will tell you the problem is like this, many people have family that is impacted or terminal. Not many care about appearances perceptions in that state. I don't know if you are getting what i am saying.

Indian media will show Dead body of Celebrity, will run inconsequential shows over a month, analysing every little details as if they are forensic expert, run a media trial, but yeah when it comes to reporting the death of common people due to mismanagement of their lord they will not show that citing, "Dont spread fake news, Dont create fear among people". And yeah dude,"health is state subject"-remember that.:cheer:

Now stop creating thread like this, try reddit before you will be labelled as Pakistani.

Modi govt deserves all the criticism, ridicule, wrath and derision of the world. They have blood on their hands just like Trump govt did last year here in the USA. Birds of a feather flock together.

I don't get this scapegoating.

WTF were the state govts doing closing Covid hospitals in Dec? WTF were states doing not anticipating this tsunami of infections? The opposition govts don't believe the central govt on anything - but they believed them as far as Covid was concerned? Was the opposition brain trust in the states who suddenly keep pointing to experts predicting the second wave not do so? WTF were govts like Kejriwal and Thackerey's doing not stocking up on O2 when they were one of the worst hit in wave 1? How did the wave become so huge there when there were no elections/Kumbh mela there? Why were the hospitals in those places not capable of handling the load?

WTF are people doing without taking care of themselves? In Jan and Feb people were (including me) vacationing, socializing, going to temples and other gatherings like marriages with impunity believing the worst was over. At no point did the govt not say don't take care we are covid free. How many people listened?

The current scenario is dire. We all need to contribute if we can. If you feel you can contribute with logistics do so - there are tons of opportunities to help. If you don't have the health or are scared to go on the ground - open your wallet. Help out ppl in your locality - your local blue collar workers are worst hit. Don't have money? Perhaps give your excess food/clothes/blankets to people who will be stuck in the upcoming lockdowns. Educate ppl to wear masks at all time. Time to give back to the country instead of crying about a broken health system that cannot become world class in the face of the worst pandemic in almost a century. Can't do any of these things? Fine. Keep you and your family safe. Don't contribute to the numbers. Even world class systems crumbled with a small percentage of cases we are seeing now.

If you live in India - there is almost no family - esp in cities that has not been affected by Covid.

You don't like the govt - vote them out of power next time. Stop politicising. We are in a damn democracy. Crying is not going to rectify the ground situation. For those sitting in countries with 10x the money and facilities crying crocodile tears without understanding the ground level realities in India ... get lost. Go show your damn condescension elsewhere.

Pass the blame. No one knew anything about Corona. Opposition who oppose and argue every thing, Had no issue on blindly trusting Modi and then not delivering.

For example, Delhi belongs to powerful people of India. They will take resources from rest of India. So unlike ofher state, Delhi decides not to put a oxygen plant but will grab it from anywhere.same is for every other thing like medicines and all , Delhi prioritised itself over poor states . Every one needs to introspection.

Reserve your criticism for a better time.

That said appropriate it on the stakeholders as well.. Not like a blind or blinkered person. As I said ,this country is democratic. Don't like who's in place. Get them out next time. Don't keep whinging.

And all your family members were following social distancing rules, Covid appropriate behaviour and senior citizens took available vaccine?

And you are so sad that you decided to come on a forum, created a account and started abusing a random poster.

PS: I have reported your above post

Yes actually they were. Everyone was following COVID protocols and the elderly ones were confined to their homes even earlier this year before this second wave hit. Report all you want.

The coverage of the third world like India and Africa is especially not genuine and condescending by these so called liberal foreign media - BBC, ABC, Nytimes , WaPo etc. They portray the same view as the Lutyens LeLis of India, CNN thinks India is only represented by people like BDutt, Rana Ayyub, Vidya Krishnan etc. For Africa, the worst of stories get highlighted as if there is no civilized system in Africa - universities, medical equipment, professionals like epidemiologists, etc, only the west has these ideas. Mediocre journalism from these famous outlets.

You have no idea ...Media hasn't even shown 1% of  the crap we are going here .

I'm isolating for the past 17 day total and still not recovered from the same .While trying to help my friends and other in whatever way I can .

I have been calling so many people here almost everyday to give my condolences  .I don't know about others but I will never forgive people who had the power to take decision  but decided not to and let people die .

They had explosion of cases, but they handled it pretty well. Existing infrastructure helped I guess.

The highest percent of death and infection are from Maharastra till date. How they handled it well. Even now they are reporting highest number of infection on daily basis.

Maharastra model should be studied and tried in south states which are much smaller who might not have the same infra but can try. For Delhi,UP they need more aggressive strategy -- pool resources from the country do aggressive lockdowns and mass vaccinations, because of the huge scale.

Thanks. This is the third relative I have lost to COVID. 2 of them could have been prevented if not for the failure of the healthcare system.
