Pujara's 2018/19 Australia tour and Kohli's 2018 England tour has no bearing on current reality. From 2020 onwards, Pujara, Rahane and Kohli all average in the 20s over combined 30 tests with only one century between them. Pujara's streak is the worst among them because Kohli and Rahane at least dominated in batting friendly period of 2019 whereas Pujara has not had any centuries even during home season after 2018/19 Australia tour. Btw, talking about 100s, you do know right that Rahane last 100 in SENA was in 2014? Also there is a difference b/w batting in top order and middle order in SENA as discussed. (2) The knock at MCG, which started the streak. (3) The top-score in the first innings of WTC when the team really needed it. I love both cricketers for what they have contributed to the side but I also understand that the time of the rope has come for their careers unless they start delivering phenomenally. I just think Pujara is slightly ahead of Rahane in terms of getting fired because like you rightly pointed out, No.3 and No.5 are different roles and a No.3 who does not score a 100 for 19 tests can completely destabilise a team whereas No.5s have slightly more liberty to be inconsistent. Rahane's loss of form is also more recent than Pujara because he had a great 2019. I wouldn't grant Rahane more than a few tests grace either. Pujara played admirably within his limitations in Australia but it is clear that he is past it physically in terms of being a dominant No.3. I don't mean any disrespect to Pujara. Pujara has served as an virtual opener on many occasions At #1-3, Pujara avgs 38, when the next best is 31. 3rd best is 26 ... At #4-7, Kohli avgs 48, Pant 44 and Rahane 38 ... OP deliberately picked 2018 because the 2018/19 series in Aus was a monster one for Pujara that helps make his stats look respectable. Yes, Rahane has been pretty bad, but Pujara if anything has been worse the last couple of years. Pujara has not just lost his wicket without much runs, but also cost the team other wickets as his stonewalling allows bowlers to get on top. His abysmal running between the wickets also costs the team runs. Now, take a look at these stats for the WTC. Yes, Rahane has been pretty bad, but Pujara if anything has been worse the last couple of years. Pujara has not just lost his wicket without much runs, but also cost the team other wickets as his stonewalling allows bowlers to get on top. His abysmal running between the wickets also costs the team runs. Now, take a look at these stats for the WTC. I have seen your threads and the only common thread among all your threads is to cherry pick stats to somehow make Pujara seem like a tiger when his records suggest a cat. Just look at the august company Pujara is in with your cherry picked stats. Joe Denly, Dom Sibley, Shan Masood....
