2014 T20 WC Final, 2015 WC SF, 2016 T20 WC SF, 2017 CT Final, 2019 WC SF, 2021 WTC Final - when will this choking end?

6 ICC tournaments played in the last 7 years under

• Vastly different conditions - some in our favour (2014, 2016, 2017) others against us (2015, 2019, 2021)
• Two different captains - one who by 2013, had won almost every single big tournament any captain could, the other who is yet to win anything of significance
• Three generations of players 
• Different coaches from Fletcher to Kumble to Shastri

 

Yet the results have remained the same and we keep choking. Is there no end to this travesty?

Frankly speaking Indians are perennial chokers - Dhoni was an anomaly aided in part by the best batting side we've ever had in 2007-11 period & almost all of them were in form!

2000 CT Final

2003 WC Final

 

Possible 11 ICC events lost since 1987, there was a steady progress of improvement since 1987, however a road block has been hit from 2014 to present.

2016-50/50 but wi was better t20 team on flat patta 

2017 f- complete choke 

2019- again choker

2021- nz was better than us in eng, nz

We did win the 2007 T20 WC, 2011 WC and 2013 CT in a 6 years period. Only missed out on 2009 CT. That period, after the horrors of 2007 WC  was the peak of our cricket, and reached number 1 in test rankings for the 1st time.

 

Since then it has ben only about bilateral series wins.

2014 T20 WC Final vs SL.    Yuvi single handedly screwed us.  Neither connected bat to ball nor got out.    Stayed till the end to ensure that we lose.   Others did not even get chance to bat.  That final, unfortunately marked the beginning of our choking era. Worst thing is there is still no light at the end of the tunnel led by Panauti Loli.

And we lost the U19 WC final 2020..

 

And we lost the women's World Cup final 2017...

 

And we lost the Women's WT20 final in 2020... (probably to a far superior team)

 

 

So it's not just the senior men's team. It's pretty much at every freakin level. Only probable explanation (excuse) can be "the weight of a billion and a third" people at the grandest of the stage. 

 

It saddens me to say this but except Dhoni and Gambhir, we haven't produced a single cricketer in this century, who is/was mentally tough enough to treat these finals as just another game. Kohli can shout that all he wants but it's apparent on his face that he's shitting his pants..

we knew in World Cup England is favorite and they played and won well 

 

does a middle order led by kohli who looks past his prime , rahane who is inconsistent amd pujara inspire u ? I never though w could win unless pant and jadeja scored a century . 
 

even in the other losses described above , w didn’t play well while tournament that we deserved to win ( except the champions trophy when kohli had a brain fart )

reasons - dravid truly was one of the best captains we had and is an astute tactician and knows when to attack , when to defend 

pant - he is truly fearless . We need that back in our cricket but with strong tactics .

Raina too he was a rare breed as well super clutch & mentally very strong despite having obvious technical faults.

How can you forget 2009 t20 wc, 2010 t20 wc, 2012 t20 wc,so we lost 4 icc trophy at that time

Because we won the 2007 T20 WC, 2011 WC and 2013 CT. We did not choke in those tournaments. We were simply not good enough.

In LOIs most definitely yes. Imagine a multiple IPL winner not getting to lead the team even in T20s while the nincompoop who can't win even IPL gets to lead us. 2019 WC exit should really have been the end of Kohli's captaincy.
