Is Babar Azam the most promising batsman among current lot of batsmen under 30

Scored 14 ODI centuries in 81 innings at an average of 56. A mightly 158 to set up a huge score for Pakistan today.

Did pretty well in tests and T20Is so far. Seems to have a cool and mature head on his shoulders.

As good as he is that FC average of 41 is jarring. Can't remember great ODI players being so average in FC cricket. May go onto become Pakistan's best LOI batsman but the FC stats suggest he will end with <45 Test average, more at Ganguly level than the elite level.

Among the younger lot, Pant has already played more impactful knocks in tests and LOIs than Babar. Labuschagne is miles ahead in Tests.

He is in the Amla mode in so far as limited overs cricket is concerned, which ain't bad at all but he has certain limitations which he has not conquered yet. One of the major reasons Pakistan lost yesterday was mediocre batting by him & Rizwan in the middle overs. They started going bang bang too late & both are not that well equipped in upping the rate.

People have the nerve of comparing Babar with Kohli. Kohli in his prime could ace a 350 plus chase, his range of shots & even striking ability was always better than Babar. Babar needs major improvement in power hitting or range hitting to be compared to Kohli. I don't think the opposition fears Babar if they set up 300 plus score.

So Babar Azam who has a century on 49 balls in the shortest format, while Kohli without one through his entire 11 year despite even playing UAE and bang/zim/ire/afg in t20s several times in his career needs to learn about power hitting?

babar's strike rate of 129 is simply too slow for T20s. A century against magala and co doesn't conceal his overall poor hitting abilities.

jos buttler don't have a T20 century either

Against Magala, Lizard and Phekwayo... :hysterical:

Kohli's 4 IPL hundreds came against miles better bowling attacks.

Yesterday Irish batsmen scored a 100 and 79 against a much better South African attack. Balbirnie > Babar

Kuli's amazing century records against UAE, Ireland, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Afghanistan in t20s

if you check that link, you will find that he didn't even bat against uae. and the one match he batted against zim, they were chasin 111. a century against low quality bowlers does not define whether a batsmen is suited for t20s.

what the heck is their psl. no one watches psl so who cares about it. Talk in international standards

In internationals, he is an average T20 batman. You are trying to excuse it because Pakistan has collapse problem. So how else would you know whether the problem is with babar/Pakistan?

The state of you using IPL over international format speaks volumes lol

Virat himself has played zim/bang/uae/ire himself dozens of times for 11 years

He played 10 games against those teams.

Didn't even bat against UAE.

Didn't bat in 1/2 games against Zimbabwe and in the other game, he batted at no.5. All this when he was a rookie...

Came in at no. 6 against Ireland..

3/4 games against Bangladesh, we were chasing 140 totals..

Why are you embarrassing yourselves?

And please don't tell me that Magala and co were a better bowling attack than those IPL attacks just because they're "international".

It's futile to argue with a quom that thinks Wasim Akram was a better batsman than sachin because he had a 250 in tests. :phehe:

Kohli chase in a 350 plus score? Show me the calibre of bowlers he faced to chase that down?

Never. In a world icc event absolutely not.

Dude is a fraud.

Prime kohli was an ATg in tests but his peak lasted only 3 years.

true, why doesn't sachin have a higher score then wasim in tests if he's played ZIM+BAN 23 times?

Rishab Pant is the best batsman in the world with the greatest potential. He defecates on babar, virtwat, labushania.

His test stats are hurt because of the number of tough overseas games he has played till now.
