If India let go of their racism, they can easily win medals. Thats what Arab countries been doing, buying athletes from poor chota mota african countries

Tbh Arabs are way more racist plus also way richer.

Also no fun in getting that way.

So lets see the sureshor disappointments. @Gollumplease let us know if these sounds right

10 m pistol mens and womens : Saurabh Abhishek

10 m pistol women: Manu Yashashwini

10 m mixed : above 4 contestants

25 m : rahi sarnobat

Mens Archery individual : Atanu

Womens Archery: Deepika

Mirabai Chanu was the only sureshot converted

I think the above 9 were more or less odds on for a medal when we began olympics. Disappointed we only got one.

Remaining chances

Sindhu

mens hockey

Bajrang

Vinesh

Neeraj

Maybe Kamalpreet Kaur

LMAO that does not make any sense. China still have some kind of rule over HK and Taipei.

Not Taiwan though.  It's still independent for now.   They are the best in Chip manufacturing & Semi conductors.  However their future is uncertain.  Pretty powerful & wealthy but no match to PRC.

They have big brother s backing. Strategic location and asset for USA. If not they would have been annexed 40 yes ago

So I'm assuming we'll end up with only 2 medals this time? Like Rio? Any chance of surpassing or equalling London tally? Any chance of a gold?

Pretty long discussion on that subject..  But Big brother won't be the same force anymore by next decade or so.  Best case scenario for Taiwan is CCP disintegrates by itself..

It does feel developed though.

Circa 2009, I was there as a tourist.

We took a train from Xian ( which had totally forgettable terracota soldiers and some hill with a monastery  ) to Wuhan ( which had nothing much and was probably incubating the Corona virus then). The intercity railway system was top notch even then. Timely. Clean. Easy to book. Far better than Eurail. And safe ( we were 5 girls in our late teens/early 20s) .

I know it's a bad metric to judge 'first worldness', but in terms of infrastructure, its visually very modern.

It might not be the same force but it ll still have its nuclear icbm s in place which acts as a huge deterrent. Also taiwan is a developed country and the world has eyes over them. Its not crimea which russia annexed and nobody batted an eyelid. In terms of disintegration no chance.. their balance of payments and reserves  so strong it can easily sustain itself for next 20 yrs.. infact they ll become more powerful.. one of the interesting articles i read was about chinas supply chain. Everyone talks about manufacturing but manufacturing is easy. Any country with resources and cheap labour can do it. But think about supply chain. Be it in india uk usa france germany indonesia if you order for a safety pin or a bathroom soap dispenser or for that matter a belt or a hat from ebay or amazon or flipkart etc. 90 Perc chance it will be made In China. Just imagine how well they have evolved their supply chain that every country in the world is covered..

Unpopular opinion alert

They should not have tennis/football/baseball and other mainstream sports in the Olympics.

Steals away the limelight that the runners/swimmers/wrestlers etc get once in 4 years.

Tbf more than that they should get rid of niche and meaningless sports such as BMX, streets skateboarding, horse dressing, etc. Man im telling you if India ever gets to host the Olympics we should include gilli danda, kabaddi and seven stones events
