Yes an AR, who is not bowling fit yet ... Will gladly take great performances v strong teams like Aus (MoS in T20s; 2 90s in ODIs) over a SL anyday

Then he should have taken rest and let someone else play in the slot

If you don’t improve in 5 years of long rope than questions will be asked. He is a very talented cricketer but needs that setback to evolve. I mean he got away with making some silly comments about women in the me too and woke era, that’s the kind of backing he has got. Rohit had the wake up call,Jadeja had it, Ashwin had it. Time for Hardik to go back to the drawing board and come back a better cricketer, but knowing BcCI will be promoted to A+ contract.

Tbf, he's had injury setbacks.

The main problem with Hardik is that he isn't reliable in any discipline. He's basically a specialist support cast player.

He'll always have his good or lean phases. Question is, is he good enough to be carried in the team during the lean phases? Are we that good a team to accommodate him?

Why? ... People have al kinds of series - bad, avg, good and great

Nobody even rates those who do well in such series

In 5 years Stokes became a world beater. Curran already  has the same profile Hardik has now.

May be at best Stoinis or Mitch marsh level at the moment

Maxwell is in a league above. Has 100’s in all formats of the game, match winning knocks in ICC Ko’s and bowls more regularly than Hardik

He is all around crap

This sums it up. All round fodder. Ok maybe a bit harsh.

He has had his moments. India have no choice but to back him unless samad or someone steps up.

Pandu's issue is fitness and his weak fragile body. Strengthening the body is first priority then he can redevelop his bowling skills. Without his bowling the dude isn't as useful.

He will bounce back with wicket taking slow bouncers.

He tried that in the 2nd ODI.   Ended up bowling a wide and the very next ball went over keeper's head.  5 wides.
