Lord's Test: Pre-match discussion

Actually these new bowlers/batters worry me more than Anderson or Broad types. An out of form batsman recovers form against India. Most new bowlers seem to bowl well against India. Not sure if it is luck or something else. Don't count out England because newbies are playing.

Kohli in pre-match PC says, they will go with 4 pacers and Jadeja. Ashwin is still doubtful. #2 ICC ranked bowler can''t find a place in the 11.

Ishant got a lot of bowling practice and throw-downs in  batting as well. No practice for Ashwin.

Gollapudi also seems to think so.

Looks like England are going to go with a bowling attack of

Wood

Curran

Saqib

Robinson

Moeen

On paper, it might look a lot weaker but trust me it's most definitely not. Especially Saqib can trouble our batters big time and we all know how we fare against debutant fast bowlers in SENA. Won't be surprised if he picks a fifer..

No batsman is comfortable against genuine Pace.

Wood is 90 to 95 MPH on a green Pitch- i see him taking at least 8 to 10 wickets in this match for England. Robinson is good specifically as he gets seriously good sharpish bounce like ISHANT.

I have no clue about Saqib  so cant say much.

Sam curran , the trundler was ordinary in the previous test and looked 120 to 125K comfortable trundling at best. He is very smart and shrewd if the pitch helps , he could give some challenges at best.

i see wood as the main threat and robinson giving secondary threat.

but our batting of Pujara and Rahane looks weak...pujara gave at least one or two chances in the 10 runs he scored in the second innings and in first he did not score.

Rahane was run out twice and looked as if he was not mentally ready to face anderson and broad - he looked very unsettled.

it seems both of them will play - my bold prediction is that both of them will fail in this TEST.

KL looked SOLID....Rohit Looked Solid. Kohli will score big runs. Jaddu looked good and Even Bumrah looked good while batting. it seems we will play IShant, Shammi, Boom, Siraj and Jaddu.

it will be fun to watch if we have such a fiery bowling attack..ishant Siraj shammi bumrah.

that's a deadly brutal attack on england, if i am kolhi and my team scores 200 in first innings, i can count on them to bowl england out in 160...

if our bowling attack is Ishant, Siraj , Shammi and Bumrah and it is a green Track- then i can bet we are winning for Sure.

i find that thing of past now.....Kohli, rohit, KL or even rahane ull hardly see these guys uncomfortable against pace may be once in blue moon .

Unless u bowl in right areas consistently or find some movement just blank pace wud be what batsman wud want

Ill rather fear robison, overton , jamieson who arent that quick but are tall....its tall bowlers who have caused a bit of an issue  Even someone like Matt henry who bowls in area of uncertainety  or southee who has a very good outswing are more dangerous in these condition

Depends who is facing whom.

Tail won't struggle vs swing bowlers or medium fast.

They will struggle vs bunrah shaki Archer wood.

That's how frauds like Waqar and starc were able to stat pad. They are too good vs tail.

It will be interesting to see how this bunch play express bowlers who can move the ball.. Someone like a shoaib Akhtar, Shane Bond

They would struggle. If shoaib played for a better team with better fielders, he would have been unstoppable.

But bumrah is better than shoaib and equal to bond.

Another day
Another away test
Another toss lost
Another selection goof up
Another batting collapse
Another out of form opposition batsman scoring big
Another opposition newbie making an impact
Another "those 45 mins" speech

Hope this is another dream & I wake up soon

Bumrah does not cause fear like Shoaib... he is just 140K mostly. Sometime faster. Bumrah definitely has more tricks and accuracy which is why the success.

Bumrah has unsettling g bounce which shoaib doesn't on normal deliveries

We are missing a middle order. Unless we get reliable batsmen at 3,4,5 our bowling can only do so much. They need to have their feet up and have the middle order make the opposition chase the leather. The Lords curators wont overload the grass this time as it evens the scales as we saw in 2014. They will give a bit of grass for andy and co to trouble our batters and prepare a good batting wicket for them. That's why they have included Moeen in their lineup. India may want to rest Shami and bring in Ashwin. but rat won't do it as he loves his pacers too much. 4th innings batting maybe tough. so hopefully he wins the toss and bats. ashwin and jaddu will be handy on a crumbling 4th innings as will moeen.

Conditions help swing bowlers so swing bowlers are effective in these conditions but wood can be very quick here...James Anderson swings big here so he will be a challenge  but between Robinson and wood ..I would always pick mark wood.

He is no more the  inaccurate just a fast bowler..he is very fast and  accurate bowler.

For me archer , wood and  Anderson are the three best English pacers.

Nope official rankings are these according pommies:

In england;

1) andu clouderson

2) woakes yes woakes

3) Robinson averages 21 in England

4) current broad post prime

5) Archer averages 28 in england. Even in first class he dint have great stats in england. He is suited for Australian and south African conditions

6) only stone = wood. Both average but stone more potential.

7) jamie overton

8) saqib

9) Craig overton

So india pretty much playing vs best English lineup minus woakes.

All this balderdash about them being weaker is horseshit.

U saw it today, blank pace in these condition wont hamper anyone specially guys like kohli, rohit, kl ... Rohit was pulling n hooking him easily and the guy went at almost 4 eco.

Wood wud be better served in conditions like SA, Aus n Wi.....rest england shud save him for LOI.

In eng guys like overton , robinson , olly stone, woakes are far better choices.
