It’s anything goes in England at the moment, for everyone except Indian cricketers, who are apparently bound to higher standards by their obligation to what, exactly, the ECB’s bottom line and our entertainment? India have been on tour here for four months now, and have been subjected to similar sorts of stresses and pressures that led the England team to cancel their own tour of South Africa last year. In that case it was a pair of hotel workers who tested positive, in this one it was a physio, who had face-to-face contact with the players while he has been treating them in the last few days. And since those matches were postponed, and not forfeited, you would think it should be the same this time, especially since the game is already being rescheduled. Unless the ECB really want to maintain that it should be one rule for them and another for everyone else.

 

Which would be difficult, given that they are, of course, currently in the middle of their own negotiations with Cricket Australia about whether they can persuade the Australian government to show a little flexibility with the rules to help protect the mental health of their own players during the Ashes tour this winter. If you really want to know who to be angry at for all this, it’s not the players, it’s not the coaches, for once, it’s not the administrators. It’s the virus. And shouting about it doesn’t seem to make much difference.

Did England make themselves available as of yet to South Africa to finish the test series after they ran back home? No.

  they don't play cricket in England between October to May. India will tour England in July next year anyway.

which test match are you talking about? didn't they play all four test match and won series last year? why should international cricket be postponed just cause of busy ipl schedule when all international sides have given ipl 2 months time in April & May.

Anecdotally:  Two weeks ago I worked closely for 4 hours in a barn (harvesting and processing field crops) with a guy who had just returned from vacation travels.  No one knew his vaccination status.  Dude was sniffling a bit, but he thought it was just dust allergy.  The barn was semi-ventilated, it was a hot day, and doing physical labor with masks on was not feasible.  So, we were unmasked the whole time.  That evening, dude fell sick, got a positive test.  Four of us (all vaccinated) who worked with him were notified that he was Covid-positive and unvaccinated.  All of us got tested and came out negative.  So, if Dude had taken his vaccine, he would have dodged Covid during his travels.  This is exactly why the best way to minimize transmission is for most of us to get vaccinated.  But, kaun kisko samjhaayega?

 

 

Shastri was found positive on 5th, Physio on 9th. Both were fully vaccinated. High chances players turn positive in 3-4 days time since they had contact with physio.

Three ODIs, not test. Also no international cricket is postponed due to IPL.

we could have delayed this test match by week or two if there was no ipl. IPL must be given 2 months time (April & May, doesn't matter where they host it) and if bcci fails to complete it in that time then should just cancel it.

And why should a test get delayed for two weeks. If players got infected, it's not possible for them to play high intensity test match so soon.

All this tamasha could have been avoided with a UAE IPL in the start itself. 2020 edition was such a hit, conducted so safely, on great pitches, awesome ratings. 

 

Accountability starts at the top, who in their right mind thought it would be a good idea to host the IPL in India?
