With 25 games more to go just in IPL and the Wc , if the pitches quality remain such anti batsman then our current selected squad wont be ideal.

Wc will become a 120-150 kind of tournament and that ll change everything. Already pitches are sluggish, slow, two pace and most batsman are struggling to get going.

We ll need to do some adjusment, infact every team wud need to but that their problem

  1. Iyer- (cant believe im taking his name in t20) but him n kohli are the kind of guys we ll need .
  2. Thakur- Always said , best use of him in white ball cricket as bowler is sluggish pitches, slow pitches, longer grounds and this falls in his zone. Add his batting utiity

Ones that can be dropped

  1. kishen- dnt think he ll enjoy these pitches as batsman
  2. rahul chahar- Chahar n krunal are 2 bowler who enjoy pace on wkt rather lack of it. Such pitches is where amit mishra knows how to bowl. (not saying call mishra) but lets see how chahar adapts to these in remaining games
  3. Pandya- such pitches are so ideal for his bowling but the man is not playing only, the nearer Wc is getting the risky its becoming . What if MI doesnt qualify ??? he wont have those extra games also

WC we are anyways not winning under Kohli.

Bigger concern is damage being inflicted on brand IPL. These Bangladesh type pathetic pitches will soon totally put the crowds off. Hotstar viewership was around 20 lakhs for match 1 and 25 lakhs for match 2. For weekend matches, such abysmal numbers must raise alarm bells in BCCI.

Back in March-April as well we had so many similar pitches. Even for international matches, we have struggled to prepare true pitches. It feels as if BCCI curators have lost the art of making good pitches. You don't assemble the big hitters in world cricket to see them struggle on slow wickets

It looks like only Sharjah has slowed bigtime.

Still we are a pacer short. Thakur should replace Bhuvi and D Chahar should replace his cousin

Very good Post and as the world cup is in October expect the pitches to become even slower.

I think on these type of pitches the following won't really do much

1. Kishan

2. Rohit Sharma.

I am not sure about Pant too but he is the greatest talent in the world so  won't even dare of wishing to  replace him.

Bowling is quite okay maybe we can replace R Chahar but not too sure about it.

On slow pitches, many WI big hitters have done well. Who can forget Samuels' 70 odd in the final against SL's attack, Pollard has done well multiple times in Chennai and hit 6 6s off one of the SL bowlers in a bilateral iirc, Gayle at various venues, Holder recently played an superb knock for SRH v PK at Sharjah, and so on.

If a team packs too many slow starters in the 11, it can be 15-20 runs short on tough pitches. A couple of big hitters of the other team can take their team home. These "slow and steady" could work against BD and AFG, who can have off days with the bat where a sub par total can be defended.

Additionally, at most grounds, there are multiple pitches so I would not be surprised if a part of those pitches are reserved for the ICC event. We saw CSK-KKR play on a used pitch when IPL could have used a fresh one.

If the pitches get difficult to bat on, #1-3 would need to try to make the most of PPs and the first 10-12 overs.

India need to be shrewd and tactical here, massive advantage of having all their players playing on the same grounds that the World Cup will be played at.

I definitely believe the changes that need to be made is to have the inform Indian batsmen and bowlers of the IPL in the team. Some of the Indian players have been disappointing so far and its a concern if changes are not made to the actual team.

Early momentum will be everything to qualify, so Thakur and Iyer must be in the starting XI.

Keywords - if pitches remaine same

My idea is just condition orientated not form. I dnt give much value to IPL form. The intial selected squad is very very good , the point of this post was to be flexible acc to conditions nothing else.

I think i read before the ipl began that the pitches for the wt20 are not the same ones which are being used for the ipl. generally in icc tournaments the pitches around the world are standardized and play true as much as possible.
