Done it many times … if Neesham played for Ind, there would have been such a thread on him as well as the Tuk Tuk Brie age would hardly give these players an opportunity to perform  … it is tough for free flowing players to succeed in an Indian setup

The irony is that Tuk Tuk brigade do not even play even half a good inning like Mitchell

I challenge you to cite 3-5 examples when he has done it in T20I, basically scenario where others are scoring at 6-7 RPO and Pandya comes in to change the momentum significantly by scoring at 10-12 RPO.

He goes in tuk tuk mode if other haven't been able to score quickly. He scores quickly when others are piling runs at 8-9 rpo. Basically able to perform only when it's easy to score for everyone else.

NZ inning was perfect example where Jadeja who is nowhere close to Pandya in hitting reputation was scored at 130+ SR and Pandya was scoring at 95.

Scenario 1:

Last 5 overs, 5 wickets left in hand. India scored at 5.2 RPO. Good opportunity for Pandya to show his hitting ability.

What does he do? 10 runs in 9 balls and gets out in 19th over. Runs at 6 RPO, basically no upgrade at all.

Scenario 2:

Last 4 overs, NZ scoring at 6.6 RPO, 6 wickets left need runs at 13 RPO. What does Neesham do? Does he hide behind failures of top order? Does he hide behind the fact that others were struggling to score? He goes berserk and NZ scored 23 runs in next over.

So, you admit that Pandya is not able to score if top order struggles? He can perform only on flat pitches where others have already scored at 8-9 RPO, basically set the stage for Pandya to score easy runs, which btw, any lower order batsman would do for India and Pandya brings nothing special by his batting?

Ridiculous that people here are laying the blame for Pandya's shortcomings on the top order.

And where has he been blamed for shortcomings for top order?

He is dropped now. It looks to be end of him in T20s.

I read on some other thread that there is no official source which states that he has been dropped.   So, in all likelihood ,he will be back after few months, with new types of hidden injuries.  LOL

Innings where Pandya played role of consolidator or flopped completely or played slow when needed

Flop innings - 12,

Tuk tuk when other failed - 3,

Flop under cushion of runs from top order - 2,

Slower than other when quick runs needed - 2

Tuk tuk when quick runs needed under no pressure - 3,

Slower than what was needed in chase - 1,

Tuk tuk when other batsman was going berserk - 1

Innings where Pandya played role of lower order big hitter

Quick runs under cushion of runs from top order - 5

Quick runs when needed, although in lost cause - 1

Quick runs when needed in winning cause - 1

Clearly Pandya is capable on big hitting only when top order has set the stage by scoring at 9-10 RPO by 12-15 overs. Rest of the time he is a tuk tuk batsman when he is required to score quicker than others. He is best suited for consolidator role.

Posted

Flop innings of top order is just an excuse behind which Pandya fans hide. Truth is Pandya can't score if like of Rahul, Dhawan, Rohit don't score big and quick. If others are not able to score quickly, then Pandya plays tuk tuk knocks of SR sub 100 himself.

Even Jadeja has more useful knocks than Pandya's innings in T20Is.

A lot of logical fallacies and reliance on perceptions:

He did it against Pak in this WC where he scored 17 runs of Afridi's over (Ind's entire innings run rate was around 7.5) ... So what are the next conditions, leg byes don't count, he needs to stand on one leg and hit a 6 :hysterical:

Ah ha, so now the genius condition is that if a pitch is bad for batting and others struggle, he has to play as if the pitch is a batting paradise and if it is a batting paradise and he is scores at even high strike rate, it does not count

NZ inning was perfect example where Jadeja who is nowhere close to Pandya in hitting reputation was scored at 130+ SR and Pandya was scoring at 95.

Again, SDP steadied the ship and got out going for a 6 in a lost cause. I am sure that you do not know that NZ terrific fielding saved many runs including a potential 6

And what did Jadeja do against Pakistan? Oh wait, SDP has to do what x did against team a, what y did against team b, and c did against team c

And such things have never happened in cricket ... oh wait, you are a fan of certain someone who actually slowed down to score his 100th 100 against BD, a game that Ind lost :hysterical:

And has Nesham taken 3 wkts in 3 balls like SDP did v BD?

DId Neesham take 17 runs of Afridi's over when NZ batted first? No, he scored only 1 run.

But let's compare an inning batting 2nd v those scored batting 1st

So if A does badly v X & Y but does well v Z, B does badly v  X & Z but does well v Y, and C does badly v Y & Z, but well v X, SDP has to play like A v Z, like B v Y, and C v X

Well, top order fails when the conditions are tough and/or bowling is tough. Did they get out v SCO and NAM, no? Did they get out against NZ and PAK, yes?

Talking about conditions - has Tendulkar ever performed in a WC final? A performed in 1975 final, B performed in 1979 final, C performed in 1983 final, D performed in 1987 final, E performed in 1992 final, F performed in 1996 final, G performed in 1999 final, H performed in 2003 final (Ponting smashed India), I performed in 2007 final (Tendulkar performed v Bermuda), J performed in 2011 final (Gambhir stood up)

 Has he? :hmmmm:
