What changes will likely be made to the team after we lose the 2nd Test at Joburg except, Kohli replacing Vihari ?

Do we have anyone better lined up? Don't tell me Vihari or Iyer.

How do you know without giving them a chance? Kohli hasn't scored a hundred in more than 2 years. Iyer scored one in his first Test.

If Kohli keeps fishing outside off stump, in Newlands, he might actually catch a fish.

I don't understand this nonsense from some people mixing Kohli with Pujara and Rahane Kohli has stunk in 2020 and 2021. 2020 was just three tests .2021 is really where he has struggled but he is not the first nor last batsman to have struggled for year.

Sachin 1991 avg 19.5 ,1995 avg 29 ,2003 avg 17 and again 2006 avg 24 with just one fifty. This guy has scored 70 international 100s, guys like him don't grow on trees. And again regarding the captaincy even after his struggles he had already scored  second most 100s by any captain.

Why would you want to kick a guy like this out the team.

So is he the first batsman to not score 100 in 2 years. What kind of pitches are they playing. How many 100s have the best batsmen scored in this period. Can a batsmen of his stature not allowed to have benefit of doubt? He scored 16 100s in 4 years before this drought.

They will not be dropped as long as ViRat is captain. In the next test, we can Kohli to come in for Mayank (who is injured), and either Chepu/Vihari will be forced to open. Siraj will be out, and Ishant will come in even though Umesh is a better bet on current form.

This is so pathetic, frustrating and infuriating.

I agree with your comment, the stupidity of Indian cricket is taken to another level.

Pujara and Rahane have secured their place is a joke, but its reality given how TM operate coupled with the changes needed, ie Mayank and Siraj they definitely 100% will have Pujara and Rahane playing to not "upset" the team balance.

Ishant still playing in 2022 has to be the biggest joke in world cricket, capable of also breaking down too.

Some will laugh at this, but Indian cricket is in a dark place because team selections are not based on whats best for Indian Cricket or country its to please friends.

A player is only as good as his recent form. Remember, in the last two years he has not scored a single international hundred. We are talking not just Tests, but nada in ODIs or T20s either. We should not offer extended retirement plans for players who have lost their mojo. We keep making this mistake with so called "senior" players, who are basically players who have played many matches but are no longer good enough to be picked for the team.

Did you actually watch his dismissals? He was caught fishing outside 8th stump to nothing balls.

Kohli has always had a soft spot for Ishant Sharma. He will always value friendship over actual performances on the field.

Since Dec 2019, Joe Root has scored nearly the same amount of runs as the sickly Kohli-Pujara-Rahane combo combined.

He has notched 6 centuries and 1 duck. The infamous trio have managed 1 century and 12 ducks in total.

Beyond dire.

Who says he is not good enough to be picked, backing a player like Kohli thru bad patch is not a mistake. If that was case we would not have Dravid playing 160 tests or Laxman playing 100 plus tests. Every player from Gavaskar to Tendulkar goes thru lean patches.  Rohit who has been the best batsmen on this team scored 2 100s in last two years along with 4 50s.Kohli has 4 50s. we are talking about tests.

Odis he is just fine even if he does not score a 100 for rest of his career. He does not have to score 100 to be effective odi player.

Fishing outside offstump has been his problem thru out his career. It is not new issue for him.He has overcome that before and he will do it again.Players like him don't come around that often. No need to push him out.

Root has been having career year and he played 2 test in SL. How is Root doing in Australia even with all that form.

Okay, we should back him for the next 250 Tests or until he turns 55 years old, whichever is later. He is after all the greatest cricketer to have been born on this planet (or should I say greatest sportsman ever) and we are fools if we don't back such a phenomenal once-in-a-1000-years sportsman.

I  have no issue when he does this for insignificant games or IPL, however placing friendship over mother country India is an act of terrorism.

It's getting too low even for your standards.

Does placing your century above team's interest counts as an act of terrorism too?

Specially when your knock helps India lose a match against Bangladesh.?

Lol no that's sacchu god bhai. Sacchu sacchu only no? One God. Demi God. Combined God. No questions should be asked.

Kohli will come in..  Look if the alternative is Kela Rahul then we have to look at Captain lolli.  Next test is expected to be fiery & there is some needle between the teams.  Kolly may come handy in such a scenario.

the sad reality is that this is not the time for  drastic changes. when it comes to batting...  But still  pujara  needs to be dropped if any.  'One down is such a vital position and this leech is taking off all the momentum of the team inns  again and again . Have a try with Hanuma Vihari who too is   grafter and have some experience in SAF. So Kohli in for pujara with Vihari at one down.

In interview, Elgar implied 2 interesting things: 1. Rabada is all fired up (someone in our team seems to have woken him up), 2. cape town pitch is going to be diff than usual.

No idea if what he said is true, but it's food for thought

Oh bhai tum log itne fattu kyun ho,fired up or no fired up ,if our batters post decent score ,we have the bowling to get them out, this defeat was 36 all out of bowling ,who knows this might just be the tonic our guys needed, honestly speaking our fans have one if the most defeatest attitude,u back the team u Randy rone se kuch nhi hoga,we have bowlers to give it back , I am sure batters too would have learnt their lesson by now.

I guess pujara & rahane will play & both will be our top scorer in next match. They won't score century but just enough to retain their place for next series. Imagine if we some how manage to loose that match & we can't drop both of them.

No according to your wonderful logic , England should never take Root to Australia. He could not score one lousy 100 over a decade right . Where do people get these genius ideas.
