There was no other spinning option other than jayant and Ashwin and playing two spinners in ODIs is our long old tradition. We played two spinners on an overcast rainy SF in England WC 2019 benching one of our best seamers in Shami and lost the game. Don't expect different thoughts from conservative Indians. kohli 1

Thats okay but Dravid does have a key role in the selection. There is no point in saying he's not involved. In fact, the ODI series whitewash is largely on him and his coaching group more than the stand in captain. He has got Mhambrey and Dileep as his think tank, Rathour is from the earlier era so may not be his pick. It's another group of yesmen like under Shastri. I listened to Mhambrey's interviews and gosh the guy is horrible. Keeps repeating the cliched word 'process' ad nauseum. Zero original thoughts. Good for u-19 and A cricket, I'm afraid not so much for international cricket. We need deputy coaches with a voice of their own. Else a redemption looks difficult. asterix and raki05 2
