sarcastic Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Granted he is talking about preparation before IPL 2022, but team India desperately needs him as a batting allrounder. We have umpteen pace bowling bowling allrounders such as Thakur and D Chahar, but if Pandya fills in the gap of pace bowling batting allrounder, we will be set for the upcoming white ball cricket. Just one look at his contributions in India ODIs with bat in hand will suffice. As long as he's fit, he makes any international ODI team on the planet. Edited January 25, 2022 by sandeep zen 1
Majestic Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) Ofcourse, a fully fit Pandya walks into Indian team. But we should beware of the adverse scenario too. We need a backup for Pandya. It is a tricky position because you look for a genuine power hitter/match finisher who can bowl some overs. Venky Iyer needs time to develop himself. His bowling is Ganguly level and batting is not suited for no.6. I still feel that he was fast-tracked too early just for the desperation of a batting all rounder. Give him some time, unfair to blame any player also if he is not given consistent run after getting fast tracked quickly. Might do better in India though. Then obviously the other alternative is to play Washington Sundar in top 5. But who in that selfish lineup will leave their spots and demote themselves one place down?? One more option is to play Jadeja at 6, have Shardul and Deepak both at 7 & 8. This will give Jadeja more time for himself but still for some reasons this looks unconvincing. maniac Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 Looking at our talent depth, Pandya is mandatory in LOIs no doubt. I don’t think it was ever in doubt in fact relating to Pandya’s slot in the team. Being fit in the gym is not the same as match fitness. How can one walk in and out and be tested only in internationals is beyond me. Has Pandya played even some local competitions to prove his fitness and form? This different rules for different individuals is what bothers me. You can be the greatest tailunt since sliced bread but you are only as good as your last performance. now before someone draws parallels with guys like Rohit, Dhawan or even Jadeja there is no equivalence. We have burnt our hands often with Pandya. nevada, Vijy and raki05 3

Just gvie SHarukh a few chances. He looks like Yusuf Pathan. Pandya's game is all screwed up now. Let him get fit and prove it in the IPL. India has to stop acting like so and so player is "indispensable". That is how we were stuck with Pujara and Rahane. Rahane milked as much as he could by selling himself as "overseas specialist" anish2tweet 1

Even though I dont really rate his skills vs pace, he certainly can do an adequate job. His bowling can be decent if he gets back back his best. We badly need him thakur chahar playing in tandem for sena. Believe it or not medium pacers who can bat always do well in sena. You only need 2 premier pacers. The 3rd pacer has to be good with some batting skill. That's where we are lacking. None or our 3rd seamers can bat well. That's why playing. Thakur chahar and pandya would be alternative idea. Our management is already dumb as it is. Can srk bat vs pace though? Above 140? Won't be under 140 in KO games bro.

I am sure he was up against pacers. He has hit 54 fours 40 sixes in List A. A genuine 6 hitter. Even if he targets one weak bowler and milk 25 runs that is more than enough. That is what Maxwell does. HE doesn't always go after the best bowler. Vijy 1

Bumrah too would be a good option for LOI. In tests however I feel bumrah might overblown himself if he was captain lol.

Vijy Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 (edited) Pandu if fit and in form can walk into the team. the thing, however, is that he needs to establish both. I am especially concerned about his fitness vis-a-vis back injury. FGP - fragile glass pandu. Edited January 26, 2022 by Vijy Majestic 1
raki05 Posted January 25, 2022 Posted January 25, 2022 I thought he is saying he is preparing as an alrounder for T20 wc alas it's for ipl. He ll be very much confined to ipl. People who are getting excited that he will have same commitment for upcoming icc events are just delusional, as he gives **** about international any longer. vvvslaxman and Majestic 2
