Promote Venky iyer in one of the games up the order

Batting at at 6-7 is hardest specially in t20 coz u dnt get to bat most days and when u do u have to hit from ball -1 which is never good for stats, this cud affect a players confidence in long run. 

So its important to give such players promotion in between games so they get a good knock n feel secure. Dravid-Chappell did it with dhoni n RR with yusuf pathan , even dube was promoted under kohli 

 

So hope they do that with venky so he gets a big knock and feels more assured at international level. But just 1 game, let him at slot where he is planned in other games so he plans his game for that spot

India have already a number of batsmen ahead of VIyer for the opening slots of T20 for the WC.

 

VIyer needs to play in the middle order for India under a variety of different scenarios to be acclimatized in order to be better there for the T20 WC.

 

Sure if the Indian openers were always getting off to flying starts or batting deeply in T20 games, thats fine. This is not the case.

 

Hitman is in charge, he will make sure that Viyer gets practice, even if that means promotion during the game.

 

Lets not forget, VIyer is about to play the IPL as an opener. He will get plenty of experience there against likely WC bowlers too.

If it's the TM's plan to bat Venkatesh at No.6 in the big games ... then let him.bat at No.6 and get used to hitting from ball 1.

 

He needs to get used to this role, match after match.

Would be a blunder....  They are trying to make him feel settled in middle order.  If he's doing well no need to experiment.

Guys like Samson/Ruturaj/Kishan should be given a run at the top.

the idea is not to make him a top order batsman but to have runs under his belt so he doesnt feel pressure of low scores or less avg which happens 6-7 coz u hardly get a chance. Chappel n Dravid did same with dhoni, he use to get occasional promotions . A good 60-70 score under his belt will only help his confidence.

Good point but Kishan also deserves that chance as opener and so does Ruturaj( although I would have liked to see Shaw there).

Not the kind of guy who will be fazed about low scores. And in this team, there are 6-7 newbies. Shreyas, Ishan, Samson, Sky, all bat in top 4, none has secured place.

everyone gets worried when u have low scores coz the pressure starts to build from outside

 

SKY is locked

Kishen is already batting at top

shreyas has his issues which is why he isnt locked in t20

when Dhoni debuted in 2004-05 he still had 2 years time for 2007 world cup.. V Iyer debuted in world cup year so better to give him as many chances at 6 as possible
