Still dont get it. which part she said about flat earth or flying horses is out of the holy book. Every mythology has flying horses and people believed that earth was flat. So what is wrong.

Now, Ayesha bit, Its common practice. As per laws of AIMPLB (which is nothing but taken from Aurangzeb's laws over India), 11 year old is correct age girl to be consumed as per marriage. Its bloody modern world and its laws which have stopped it.

See, She didnt used the term Paedophilia. Child marriage and Paedophilia are two different things. Fact is, Marrying a girl Child (not same as Child marriage in Indian context where both are kids) was common in that region including jews and Christians society .

If Islam followers have a problem with taking the book objectively wrt customs norms and society of that period, they should show same respect to Islam which they expect from others and  effin all implement Sharia's laws pertaining to crime as well in their countries, else accept that book was written in a period and a society, and moove on

It's good...so now any comedian or troublemaker who also makes fun can be booked based on precedence

It is FoE when they do it. Look at how MoFoHussain was defended by liberals on FoE and Salman Rushdie was trashed by the same cabal

For all the rightwingers getting so upset about Indian govt having to kowtow to appease the 'gulf' nations, take a lesson.  Ultimately its not about chest thumping whether a Narendra or Yogi does it.  Its about a country's economic clout.  Which India lacks, and lacks quite badly.  So support 'leaders' that provide efficacy in governance and building the economy, not morons who are good at saffron-signaling.  Because all the shouting and sloganeering in the world is worthless until you are sitting on a fat wallet.

Just look at how Biden is quietly going to bend over to the Saudis.

India did reject OIC’s claims and also gave a response to US state dept freedom of religion report in a manner which was not done so far. This capitulation of Modi is like the repealing of farm laws. It is not just oil  reasons, this is also due to the vast number of Indians working in Gelf. Modi is ambitious in building as a global leader wants to keep the record straight.

Yes, good governance is key, but PR is needed for Indian public to vote again and again. Modi has learnt it from Nehru and IG winning elections with a lot of PR work. Also from Vajpayee who lost because he did less of the Tom-tom. Growing up even though Nehru was not alive, still read a lot of stories in the newspapers. Only charismatic leaders are successful in India. Even MKG too!!

The point is India will vote BJP until they mess up real bad. There is not much of corruption as we saw in UPA i&ii,

My response was on the double standards of intellectuals on Blasphemy rules.

Precedence?

There are quite a few cases where 'comedians' and journalists have had to cool their heels in jail for stuff which wasn't even directly aimed at a group.

What kind of a comparison is this?

The court decreed that the obscenity charges against "Bharat Mata" painting did not stick. The painting did not violate sec 292 of the IPC.  FoE was defended by the court there , and not by 'liberals'.

What do you mean by economic clout ?

The West did everything it can to destroy the Russian rouble - yet Russia whose economy is  3 % or less of EU, US and Japan - managed to  not only keep the rouble afloat but it is stronger than it was before the start of the war.

Does a relatively tiny Russian economy have more “economic clout “ than the filthy rich West and Japan ?

Natural Resource dependency is not the same as “economic” clout.

India’s nominal GDP  at 3.5 trillion is larger than all the Middle East countries put together  by some distance -

We have millions of workers in the Middle East - for their safety, security and to prevent them from being physically harmed by these barbaric despotic regimes - the govt had to bite its ego.  You think if India can say FU to Europe on European turf it cannot say FU to these  chirkut 2 bit countries like Qatar ? We have millions of people in Europe too -  but they are not despotic wahabbi Islamic regimes  like the Middle East.

Court verdict came later, but secular politicians and celebrities were all backing MFH. Maybe the verdict was on Bharatmata then. I am not sure there was a case booked on naked Saraswati! The present day courts would have charged him of hurting religious sentiments. It is all about the judges who are representing the public opinion

Okay then if this is precedent set for merely describing what holy texts, history and common knowledge in response to constant abuse/degradation against Hindu places of worship and holy items then fine- from now on its acceptable to send death threats to anyone abusing the Shivling?

Many people don't understand this simple thing. Islamic countries are religiously bigoted by their root unlike Europe and US.

Forget correcting or going any kind of fact checking. Look at BBC , they are afraid to even quote her. Looks like an international Blasphemy law has been passed.

The BBC is not repeating Ms Sharma's remarks as they are offensive in nature.”
