Like 2 good knocks in last 10 games since the beginning of Asia Cup ... I guess, the replacements do not have a higher standard to beat esp. if batting in the top 3 positions (unless the assumption is that they can't even click in 1-2 out of 10 games)!

The only time upcoming players are given playing time is when the seniors are "rested."  Even if they show some spark, they are not groomed, but replaced or switched out of the position where they succeeded. The seniors then return, take their own time and use the India-team as a means to get back some semblance of form, and then there is no sign of the youngster who kept their seat warm while they were gone.  I am thinking Hooda, Samson and Kishan as my exampoles. 

 

Oh well ... RGS, KLR and VK still play for India and we must support them, but they are not indispensable.  And it is harder to judge the newer players if they are  not given a longer rope and allowed to truly compete for a spot.  But whatever ... at least these upcomers have the IPL as a fallback to monetize their skills.

in t20 they are if this Wc was in subcontinent these 3 wud have been unsuitable together . Their game is still A+ vs pace bounce but not spin

You know more cricket than I ever will, and I hope you are right.

 

This is another reason I think BCCI should allow our youngsters to play BBL and other foreign leagues so that we can judge them against pace/bounce, and are not relying on historical data to support filling the team with seniors who have had an opportunity to play in those conditions.  The only time upcomers play is at home, in the Caribbean and the horrible pitches in the UAE. 

 

Who knew that Washington Sundar, Thakur and Natarajan, or even Pant, would do well in Australia, that too **in tests**?  Fortuitously they got a chance and contributed to historical wins.

 their game against spin has gone down - ill take rahul tripathi if wc was in India but the kind of bowling that will be their is WC u need quality of these 3

in subcontinent , these half backed hacks or whatever u wanna call them clear leg and hit shots but In Aus against quality bowling thats not easy

 

having said that its not that we dont have good batsman in new generation against pace- bounce, we have rutu and gill but their s.r are a concern as of now

im saying that for long that we need to send these guys to play leagues like CPL-100 and which ever doesnt collide with domestic . Even in past if guys like yusuf pathan, DK, uthappa, raina, nehra if were allowed to play leagues we might have had a better t20 sides in past . 

 

Guys like Naseem-rauf improved their skills bowling in leagues around the world , even guys like pooran-livingstone improved their range

For a top order player (#1-3), it is more important to see at what SR he plays at (balls are relatively more scarce resources) as most can be consistent if they play within themselves

u need a solid base game in Aus which is why those WI batsman stuggled and SL-Afghan batsman wud too unless its sydney or hobart

1. post captaincy he is going at 150+ s/r which is what everyone wanted
2. he also is one of the best players of pace n bounce in country. U cant take avg players of fast bowling in Aus

He hasnt been good in past in t20 that reflects in his record which by no means is bad still. But he is a diff batsman now , he is doing what we wanted shaw, kishen to do and obv he is massively superior batsman against pace n bounce then those 2 .

Rohit is good but overall not at the level of Warner and Buttler, let alone Kohli.

 

His record vs Pakistan in World T20 is embarrassing to say the least. Only Kohli and Pandya has done well vs Pakistan from the current lot.

I have always seen KL Rahul being a deer caught in headlights in crunch matches. Rohit was very much like KL today.    Hopefully one of these bozos should click against SA now that huge pressure is off.
