Sloane84 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Look guys, this T20 World Cup result is the best possible result for India !! We all know that with the squad of has-beens and never-were stars that was selected , India were never going to hold that trophy. I mean...you only have to look at the selections of Dinesh Kartik and Ravi Ashwin - Everytime India colors were put on Kartik, he pooped in the middle and Australia was no different (just look at that Pak match). And Ashwin cannot run to save his life (and unfortunately he was not playing the West Indies). You could also say that about Rohit........if only it was West Indies instead of England, a Rohit 200 would have been guaranteed ! Anyway back to my point - this is India's best result ! Here's why - Number 1 - India beat Pakistan ! Yes...we can all say that again and again and again - Yaay...India walloped Pakistan !! :) :) Number 2 - The higher you climb the harder you fall ! And let's say that Pakistan had the hardest fall of all ! England kicked them off from the top of the tree and a few Pak bones must have been severely broken. Number 3 - Everybody is now saying that the BCCI need to get into the 21st century and pick a proper T20 team without the old over-the-hill stars (Kohli, Rohit & Co). Also no more mentally weak players (Rahul) ! Bowlers who can bat and batsmen who can bowl ! Also, no more coach Dravid ! We want tactically proficient coaches, not conservative thinking Dravid stuck in the past. I think next T20 World Cup will see big changes in India's team and tactics. Until then, just remember.......once again India hammered Pakistan in a World Cup fixture !! :) :) - express bowling and BacktoCricaddict 2
vvvslaxman Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 DK and Ashwin were going to go anyway even if we had won the cup. India had far too many flaws to count going into the world T20. Still with mediocre selection we topped the group. Bowlers somewhat exceeded the expectations thanks to Arshdeep who singlehandedly made our bowling look less ordinary. Even before semi final many mentioned "bowlers have done the job. now time for batsmen to step up". Conditions were right up in their alley. Flat pitch, short boundaries, trundler attack aided by one good leg spinner and one part timer. All they had to do was bringing out their FTB skills. They had one thing to do. They failed to do. Sloane84 Posted November 14, 2022 Author Posted November 14, 2022 India'sT20 team and tactics will change going forward. Big talent pool to choose from. Younger players willing to take risks. Coach in similar vein. Shaw, Kishan, Samson, Patidar, Tilak Verma, Sundar, Umran Malik, Mohshin, Kuldeep and so on. India will be big contender at next WC.
cricketfan28 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Very unfair to expect a cup in 2024 with an all young team, I expect them to go to semis atleast and its all bonus from there on.
cricketfan28 Posted November 14, 2022 Posted November 14, 2022 Its is not the best result, but not a bad one either. If KL and sharma were in form we would have done better.

Apart from 1-2 names in that list, we have seen careers of most over the years and pretty sure they will provide us with more wrist slitting than the current lot . 100% guarantee that

tapandrun Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 (edited) There should not be high hopes on these new-players, there has not been any improvements in the younger lot since they busted on the Intl/ipl stage. They have not challenged themselves much and still have same weaknesses that they had 3 seasons back P.Shaw still finds it hard to score quickly after PP or when the spinners are bowling. W.Sundar has not improved his white ball batting R.Bishnoi can not ball leg-spinners White ball cricket has changed a-lot, this newer lot is far behind to what new-age white ball is demanding. Most have not been given consistent run . No clarity in thought . Only avesh got a consistent run . Others are thrown into tournaments then pulled back .

To show what skillsets one has and how consistently you can execute them ,why you need to be picked for India side? We have enough domestic matches and IPL to show the skills . If you are not able to show them in 2nd grade domestics how anyone can conclude you have requisite skills to succeed in international level ? We have not seen any of promising bowlers running through sides , Injuring batters with pace & bounce , bowling out yorkers at will , skills of defensive bowling consistently. How many "supposed all rounders have improved their big hitting ability & done it many times? " No way one can become a star in international without showing real skill at domestic level. What we see - Its Unadkatter , Rishi Dhawan , topping bowling charts every season and not any youngster.

Both players have never played 7 matches in a row in a well defined manner . That’s what I meant by lack of consistent role defined chances . regarding star at international level - domestic performers like Shaw , Sarfaraz khan etc are nowhere even in the team .how do u expect them to become stars ? as regards pacers - avesh again is a good example . He was discarded after he got thrashed in asia . He was still better than Harshal but somehow we are confused about role - Harshal can never take a 5 for but a little more support , development and good bowling coach with emphasis on aggression might have made him into an asset . Instead he wax trying slower balls to please dravid .

ThirtyD. Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 We all said the same thing after 8-0 whitewashes against Eng and Aus

Rahane and Pujara became the new mainstays and they did well in their initial years overseas and in India, we got Bumrah, Shami as our leaders of the attack along with a rejuvenated Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav. With little luck we would have scored in England and SA as well. We need to flush out our senior players in every 4-5 years, Rahane who was making useful runs in 2014 became a liability by 2020. mani sha 1

I agree your point on young indian batsmen on bench to an extent ,but the players mentioned should not be considered in their present fitness level esp. in short format rather you check Patidar, Ruturaj, Sanju first, till Shaw comes back with better fitness. We are already suffering by making Rohit our captain. Also Top 3 playing all the games for so many years has totally blocked chances to newer players who look somewhat better equipped for international level . But bowlers & bowling all rounders - no one in our sight so far. Real issue is with bowlers & supposed allrounders -. How many young bowlers have lead their state team to win matches, do they pin down opposition with their bowling ? Am yet to see among new pacers. Half the time they are out of the game. Since 2016 -any one U-19 pacer who really came up ? No. Bowling allrounders can make it to short format team only if they develop power hitting , most of them are where they were few years back like Washy, Have we seen any big hitting lower order knocks even in domestics from them ? No. Edited November 15, 2022 by prudent_kreeda

coffee_rules Posted November 16, 2022 Posted November 16, 2022 Was it? Was it the best result in: 2014 T20WC Final 2015 ODIWC SF 2016 T20WC SF 2017 CT Final 2018 - bach gaye no ICC tournament 2019 ODIWC SF 2020 - Covid ne bacha liya 2021 - WTC Final aur Dubai debacle 2022 - Dubai debacle and T20WC sF too? We can forget it and be happy we are reaching SFs and Fs. Come IPL, we all focus on our favorite teams and forget it each year

So in your mind KL Rahul Harshal chahal axar were outstanding selections ? Rohit has a pregnant belly yes but is he much worse than kohli in the lead up? He was winning trophy for fun with IPL if he had won t20 wc he would have been called messiah captain. Hindsight is a funny thing.
