Chetan Sharma returns as chairman of BCCI's selection committee

i would beg to differ on this-

selection is a FULL time JOB not a Part time JOB.

it should be given to FOlks Like myself Or Express Or Rkt or folks who do this JOB diligently.

what I mean by diligently is - we visit all India Matches and Domestic games - study and analyse them.  Create records of performances of players and then create Presentations about the Skills of players , kind of provide evidence as to why X player is picked ahead of Y Player. Every thing should be based on facts and vision.

Corp Professional like myself who have been Leading IT Teams but still watching / writing about cricket even when i have a full time JOB ..devoting 30 hours to watching and writing about cricket.

if my bread and butter becomes Cricket Selection , i would dedicatedly give 12 hrs daily and 12*30= 360 hours in a month to cricket..kinda sleep ,dream cricket.

See what kind of performance a Man like myself/rkt/express can give - india is a vast country and we may have a few Umran's still to be unearthed.

Just see mavi looks Average, as a selector I would not have picked him.  i think harshal has played the last t20 international match of his career, i would not have picked him ever.

.Only arshdeep and umran look like India Bowlers , when bumrah and Shammi/Siraj are back, Mavi , harshal wont be considered.

Prasidh is way better than Mavi as a bowler- is he unfit. karthik tyagi - is he fit , if yes get him into the back up pacers , he could replace umran when umran is rested or unfit( as a fast bowler should replace a fast bowler).

where is navdeep saini- coach these guys who bowl 140+ and get regular bounce. see what bounce does -sardar arshdeep got one or 2 wickets off bounce balls as srilankan batsman could not hook him properly.

where is kuldeep sen - why was he not played after one game. why was Mavi/harshal picked ahead of a genuine fast bowler????

i would say Mavi is just like Shardul and if i have to choose among them - as of today Shardul has more swing , bowls same pace as Mavi and bats as good as Mavi ( as mavi also looks like a good batsman).

HIRE selectors who are very hard working and have detailed explanations / answers to why some players are picked and why some are not. I am not sure if these guys have the energy and enthusiasm now to work so hard.

I definitely have what it takes to Succeed as a Selector.....:)

What cut/ percentage of their salaries will go back to the top position babus, that's the real question ?

I've never heard some of these names

The same % as the raw bowling speed Ankola clocked when he used to terrorise batsmen.

Selectors does not have be top players of their times, rather should have good cricketing acumen in selecting the players.

Chetan's led previous selection committee looked confused and made some horrible decisions in last 3 big trophies/Cups.

Their reasoning on why are they picking certain player was way flawed. In recent series their selections have been questionable.

Termination of Previous selection committee was just a hog-wash and dropping/not-selecting certain player is just till the time dust settles and then these players will be back soon.

Looking at how Chetan selected players previously does not see much hope from here

How did he return when he didn't go anywhere? Wasn't he making team selections while the charade of appointing a new selection committee was going on?

then why sacking the panel at first place. if you wanted to continue with that same chairperson in panel.

The max term of many of the selectors was over. BCCI had to go through the process of filling a few spots so decided to go all the way. Those away from their max term were eligible to re-apply.

After 2 years, we may see the same thing repeating as Chetan Sharma probably only has 2 more years to go. And many may incorrectly term that as "sacking".

Terminated or not, this whole group of Dravid, Rohit and Chetan and Co. are clueless and makes some basic mistakes over and over again.

  • Dhawan was ODIs captain a series back and now he in not in the plan -then why give him that spot let a younger player do the captaincy and groom them.
  • Chetan's led selection committee selected a wc team with 5 unfit/injured players
  • Forgot about not selecting VIhari for SA series then changed their minds and asked him to be part of A team
  • Sent 130ish fast bowlers to Aus WC where fast bowlers get lot of purchase
  • kept insisting that they need Left handed batter in 11 some 2 months back now all of sudden there is no need of one
  • Said we need ppl who can bowl in top 4/5 batters but not even selecting one such option

There are no words to describe their imbecility, their decisions/selections looks like that team is selected by some1 who has 0 knowledge and is not remotely aware of the game

They are scapegoats but shah made sure chairperson stays so he can control selections like playing unadkat, harshal etc.

Dhawan was the defacto captain when everyone took rest. Now they have KL Rahul who is undroppable.

The problem is these selectors are just rubber stamps. Tell me how the chief selector who was so bad retained after 5 failed selections. Multiple players have fitness issues they don’t care about checking that.

They couldn’t send fast bowlers else bowlers like harshal will be exposed. Umran was playing well. Could have selected him but no.

The left hander part is funny considering we have one who scored 200 and gets dropped. Gill and KLR seems to be undroppable players.

Fact is shah selects these players and selectors on them.

Do not think BCCI administration team has to do anything with the selection apart from selecting the captains and pressuring to win WCs- Which they should its a private corporation and results should be there to show for.

I would be surprised if previous administration  never had aspiration to win WCs, the v.obvious mis-selection  should all be on the selectors and TM. Shastri and Kolhi also suggested that Selectors gave them that team.

If some1 take a look at playing 11s its obvious TM and selectors are at fault, 1 batter who has scored 200 run in last ODI is asked to rest, bowler with a 5er in one test asked to rest for the next test.

This is v.obvious selection committee and TM is clueless, Yes BCCI admin has been on fault of having this selection committee and TM and other shenanigans but there are lot of questions to be asked by this and previous selection committee
