That's the thing isnt it? If you bring back those whom you were supposedly phasing out then you weren't plannin on doing that anyway. Even with injuries they could have given a few others chances if they were serious about it instead of going back to them because of div 2 county runs and a few pretty looking boundaries in the IPL.

they will not phase them out. each will play till 41-42 like misbah

Expectations is not the problem .Dravid the coach cannot create talent, what he can do is create a system where players maximize their abilities.

That is where Dravid has failed miserably. He has failed to give his players any sense of direction.Nor he has laid any foundation where his teams are expected play in certain way.

You have to set your expectation high. Your goal should be high. You should leave a legacy when you retire. Be it is building a great unit that will server us for the next decade or so. Be it is instilling ruthless work ethics and culture among players that have a cascading effect. The impact has to be telling. He has now admitted they take as things come rather than take any proactive action.  There is clear lack of future plan.  Identify problems and address it instead of merely echo facts that we already knew long back.  If he feels he is unable to enforce discipline and standards he should quit.   The fielding by Indians is frankly high school level. Bangladesh women cricketers fielded better than our current team in West Indies. It is just that other areas are even worse.

My concern is there is no bottom. Under his tenure India can sink even lower.

You can set your expectations as high as you want, if you don't have the talent to meet those expectations then there is no point in having expecations.Coaches can only work with talent they have been given.

I don't expect Indian coaches to develop best fast bowling culture in 5 years but what I expect from them is have a certain standards for fast bowlers.Dravid has ruined all the hard work done by previous TM in that regard.

Same thing for batsmen , you need certain templates and minimum requirement for each format.

Fielding along with fitness improved a lot under Kohli and Shastri even though catching was awful under them. But it has become worse under Dravid.

It looks like Dravid is taking things as they come without having any idea on building a team for present and future needs.

Having too many players does not equate to having too much talent.

You can call it unfinished, unpolished. But you cannot say they are not talented.  Most of the upcoming Indian players are talented. Most of them have all the basic ingredients. just needs to hone their skills in certain areas something that all the cricketers have to do.
