Yes, that was exactly what was expected of Labu. If I was an Aussie fan, I would have definitely looked forward to a rear-guard innings from him.

It is called natural progession, teams get bad before before getting better as players get older, it is not end of the world , India still produces enough talented players for it to remain a top team.

Natural progression or not, its really bad timing to lose in form players before wtc final. Such a shame we don't have proper back-ups available

So England is not going to win the Ashes. But still, I like their bold, entertaining approach. The declaration on day 1 of the series looks silly now with the benefit of hindsight, but it was done to nullify the effects of excessive rain which never came as was feared. Also,.kudos to the Aussies for stepping up when it mattered and grabbing the game back from the opposition.

You don't get backups for a player like Bumrah out of thin air. Injuries have played a role in India losing critical matches.

The loss of Lyon has been huge for Australia. Also, the addition of Wood and Woakes has given teeth to this English attack. 

 

The data for this Ashes has been fascinating. 

 

Essentially, you have to either bowl in the 130-135 range or you have to be 145+ to be effective in these conditions. Its why both Woakes and Wood have been successful. 

 

All of Australia's bowlers mostly bowl 135-145 currently(Cummins and Starc have lost pace over the years) 

 

English conditions are weird but England's analysts know their conditions extremely well. Probably why Josh Tongue a typical 135-145 bowler is not preferred over a past it 130-135 kph Anderson.
