Despite Money & Power: Venkatesh Prasad Slams India For Celebrating Mediocrity

I also think talent needs to be there to be noursihed.I have not seen any can't miss talent which selectors have missed out.

Just because you have not seen doesn't mean it doesn't exist. U19 age cricket is where talent pool starts. When the teams are consistently going deep and winning tournaments at that level it is not possible with a bare cupboard. The kind of situation which you're trying to portray where barrel scraping is necessary doesn't exist. Myopia and lack of vision only lead to a self fulfilling prophecy and make it seem like it is Zimbabwe or Ireland where 37 yr olds need to keep playing to keep the team competitive.

Indians should know this westerners and other country folk will try to dimnish your teams achievements by saying, India is most populous, cricket is not played anywhere else, india does not produce fast bowlers, indians dont eat meat so cant play aggressively, if it was some other race or nationality in this position they would have could have might have dominated.

You should give '0' fcuks. Last i checked 1 players play on each side. Its equal on the field, what Indian ( bcci) team achieves is no less or no more than any other time,  percapita can go fcuk itself :).

Yes trophy cabinet is empty but so is that of most teams except Aus. So chill.

Venkateshalu prashadham means well, in his playing days he used to trundle and got taken to cleaners not because of lack of trying or meekness but because he geneuinly could not do any better, as in he lacked skill ability strength muscle mass etc basically wish he had more protein bars growing up.. but he has a point of not wanting to celebrate mediocrity and get rid of older hasbeens. That he got right, venkateshalu prashadam has a point.

In the last 10 yrs (2014 onwards), almost every team has won atleast 1 icc trophy in one format or the other.  Teams like Nz, Windies, Pak and Eng hv all won icc trophies.   Eng hv won 2 in this period.  Your argument that only Aus keeps winning them is not appropriate.

Champions trophy is a meaningless irrelevant tournament that holds no significant value. I would consider only the 'World' trophies (ODI wc, T20 wc, WTC) as major titles.

So since 2011 -

Australia - 3 World titles

England - 2 World titles

West Indies - 2 World titles

Sri Lanka - 1 World Title

New Zealand -  1 World title

India - Big fat zero despite being at it's strongest ever.

And people here are asking why should we dominate and are happy that we are "regularly making knockouts" lmao. The problem is not that they aren't dominating.... problem is that they're not even matching borderline minnows. :whack2:

Not 'people'.    It's only 1 guy on this forum who is happy/satisfied with Ind reaching the KO stage multiple times and getting their ass kicked everytime against every tom dick harry.   LOL.

Atleast in WC, we all know the outcome.

Going to be a watershed moment in Indian cricket history. People will definitely start to look away from this overpaid bunch and even the IPL circus will lose its charm if and when we inevitably bomb out of a home world cup with empty hands. Cherry on top if they lose to Pakistan.

Either we win and get the monkey off the back forever or cricket will slowly start to become an afterthought for the Indian public. Let's be honest here...there is no Sachin or a Kohli or a Dhoni awaiting in the wings to keep us glued for years end. Irrespective of the talent, none of the new guys coming in from U19 or IPL or domestics have even a fraction of the aura the previous generation used to carry with them.

Making knockouts amongst 9-10 participating teams despite being as you said, favourites is more or less a very meek expectation

We have been among top 3 sides mostly since 2003,so it has been rather ridiculously disappointing

What aura?

Jaiswal looks more determined and ready than any past it player I have seen.

He looks like a future captain.

He is not marketable. That's what you meant I guess.

Sunil Gavaskar who has been slamming these players for not performing must have forgotten his own stinkers.

He and Srikanth did not even attempt to chase down 126 to win a test .

They would have won that series too.

I think you have lost it mate. What has the above got to do with anything being discussed?

Im sure Gavaskar is criticized for things in his career doesn't make him unworthy of picking faults in others' efforts

Srikkan can't be blamed for that Test. First innings 86 in 89 . Second innings 38 in 61 not terrible rate those days. 62 strike rate. Only issue with that chase was India did not factor in rain. India had loads of time left when the rain interrupted.
