KL's issues are also technical. They get exposed especially in the top order because that white ball will move around. Ironically, only Rohit looks technically strong amongst all of our senior batsmen.  KL plays with a static side-on stance and ends up playing around his pad to the incoming ball.

This is an issue with too many Indian batsmen. They all look overcoached and unnatural. We are so far behind other teams it's shocking.  And if your technique keeps failing and you can't trust it AND nobody points it out,  you start believing you are not good enough = mental midgetry.

The way they hold the bat is also extremely weighted - parallel to the ground and toe-end towards the keeper.  How can you pull and cut hard-length deliveries if you have an extremely weighted batting grip and you don't open up that front foot?

They are not in a position to access the leg side or get any speed in their downswing.

Only Rohit does it really well and that's why he can murder the short ball and play aggressively. KL can't and neither can Kohli.

Neither can any of them attack spin well.

I can say it right now that Rinku Singh won't do well consistently in a longer format like ODIs or even T20Is because his technique is not consistent enough.  He can't attack spin and he will fail against hard length deliveries either under his right shoulder or the one going away from his arc(also looks overaged)

Jitesh Sharma is the only one who looks somewhere on the right track.  Parag did it well in Deodhar trophy(which is why i back him)

Poor decision to drop Samson from the ODI side. Looks like top 4 is going to be Ishan, Gill, Kohli, and Rohit.  I don't see anyone giving up their spots for Ishan so will bat at 4 and start against spin.  Ishan can only bat in the top 3

I assume it's a case of keeping hope on someone when nother option is there to keep any hope on. Reasons being :

1. Pant and Shreyas are injured. No update on Shreyas fitness either.

2.SKY has failed to create any mark in ODIs.

3. Samson seems to have similar problem on lines of KL, catchy on eyes but seems vulnerable vs quality attacks. Can produce a terrible shot outta nowhere and get out.

4. Tilak and rest are still inexperienced and going into World Cups, team will figure out his weakness and restrict him to produce runs.

5. Kishan is not a good middle order option.

What has kela experience achieved as of yet, he is sure shot failures in crunch games so better try with new guys, even though they fail it wont be any different than what Kela does. Atleast none of these guys you mentioned are mental midget like kela. The way he got out against pak in t20 wc and asia cup was the height of mental midgetry i am just surprised people still banking on him.

Okay don't pick him. But my point is he has performed in bilaterals while others have failed there among those who are available.

Samson failed

Tbh, he failed in T20s. Not in ODIs.

He hasn't done any favours to himself...plus has a genuine problem against leg spin and left arm orthodox.

In ODIs, after getting himself in, he can smash the spinners for fun. He has done it quite often.

His record is not that terrible in ODI. But they want to give SKY as many chances as they can which is a futile exercise

he was backup in ODIs anyway. KL is back and then Kishan has moved ahead of him.

Samson's ODI numbers are inflated by some cheeky Not outs vs SA...

Dude has no feet movement.  His square cut is always in the air & he is a mental midget like Kela.

No technique Kishan is superior than him & that says something.

If its down to Tilak vs Samson then Tilak should get the chance now.

Samson can go play Asian Games.

Kishan is a top order batsman. He is not good in middle order. KL will take Iyer's spot most likely but a no 5 spot is there for a grab.

I agree about the deficiencies of Samson but kishan is not better than him in middle order and everyone moving one spot below for Kishan doesn't seem to be a great idea either.

There are two spots up for grab( #4 and #5). KL will probably be one and the other is a debate between SKY, Samson and Tilak. Tilak hasnt even debuted in ODIs.

Ishan has batted in middle too. In reality both are not suited for middle order as even Samson struggles v spin and to rotate strike.

They are just banking on Surya to come good. Tilak atleast offers a leftie option with additional 6th bowling option.

There has to be a one left hander in there...  If Kela is fit & keeping then Tilak plays.

I'd add extra batter in SKY vs Pak.

Play one spinner Kuldeep vs Pak & Tilak's part time option.  Also enables us to play three strike pacers in Siraj Shami Bumrah.  Drop useless Bits n pieces Jadeja (he is root cause of all the problem imo)  fake A/R eats one spot & a useless darter.

Rohit

Gill

Kohli

Tilak

Rahul (wk)

SKY

Pandya

Shami

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Siraj

I'm not sold on Samson either. But I'm not sure what other choice is there as wicket keepers are concerned.   I agree with Varma but I don't think it's between Tilak and Samson.

Surya played a good responsible innings last match (61 off 45). Hope he does the same in ODI's.

Why everyone is backing Rahul, i am not sure.

I feel he is still the best WK in the middle order as there is no Pant.

Will he flop under pressure , yes he will flop but do we have anyone who is better?
