Played out of position today to accommodate hack Sharma.

At this stage, our opener Abhishek Sharma is a bigger concern.  I hardly watch IPL.    But from whatever I hv seen, I was 100% convinced that he is a hack.  Even on a patta,  if the new ball swings a tad, he is a walking wicket.  To get an idea, anyone can watch the IPL 2024 Final highlights.

Playing pace in the channel is the biggest issue for Rutu.   He can score off hard lengths and wide lines.   And he's a good player of spin. 

 

But he struggles against deliveries at off or just outside off.

He deserved a chance based on excellent performances in SMA and IPL. That does not mean he is already going to be an integral part of the team. All it means is - he deserved a chance. He has got it. Now it is up to him to improve, adapt and prove himself.

 

Same thing with Rinku and Gaikwad and all youngsters.

How does one get this sort of data? Is there someone who tracks this manually or do they use a computer vision program to run across all match videos to extract that information.

Are they trying to replace one sharma with another sharma at the top order? Lol. That project was a long and drawn one. Ultimately, the sharma succeeded because a lot was invested in him.

TBH Not much batting talent in South India .

Hope they keep on supplying quality spinners though.

Tilak is good.

 

We wasted Baba Indrajith...not cut for T20's or ODI's but definitely a solid Test batter.  

Hanuma Vihari too was used like a dirtbag while Ajinkya Mediocre Rahane was promoted and carried for years.

Rahane was better than Vihari by all accounts.
Dont think Tilak will come good, Washington Sundar is someone I think will come good in tests.

The latter.  AFAIK, analysts at the ground only track the more subjective stuff - false shots,  shot type - attacking or defensive  etc.

This is something I noticed about him. Looks way poor against pace.

He is a Chepauk specialist may be.

I honestly thought he will be good in Tests atleast.
