Not selecting Mayank right now will result in someone losing their job. If he remains fit, he’ll be unstoppable regardless of what anyone thinks or believes in.

Then he will get injured....

Gist of the thread :

If Mayank gets selected, it'll be because Agarkar wanted him and put his foot down

If he doesn't then it's because Dravid doesn't want him despite Agarkar wanting him. Then Agarkar could not do anything.

Not sure about Mayank but how about Kela, If kela is in the squad and in playing XI …. Can we bash Draavid then.

Nope During Shastri and Kohli’s time he used to spent more time on bench Jadhav , Yuvi and Dhoni were more regular in mo. Only when Draavid sir came he just not become regular in playing xi he also promoted to so called leadership group.

Yuvi played last in 2017. Dhoni also quit T20 around that. Kela was always opening in T20 and in MO in ODIs

Not always. Before Dravid when kela was actually a good player he was always an alternate opener in odi in place of Dhawan even in 19 wc he became regular only when Dhwan got injured till that point his poistion was not fixed. In t20 also he was not a regular opener . People were annoyed when Shastri and kohli used go drop him. Once Dravid became coach he started playing regularly and also got batting positions as per his wish.

When Dravid and Rohit purposely tampered with WC Final pitch they lost the battle there itself in being meek human beings.

I don't care what anyone says but championships are won through sheer brute skills and strength not meek surrender through tampering conditions.

And yet we have hundreds of excuses here on why Dravid or Rohit are not the fault of current predicament of ICC championship drought.

Look at Aussies, they barely eeked out a win against Afghanistan in the WC through sheer luck of Maxwell. But won easily against India in the finals.

It's never about skills but all about attitude and fight you bring to the table. When that's not there, at the highest level your skills will desert you.

Look at how meek KL, Rohit, Jadeja, Gill, Iyer and Kohli are when put under immense pressure. How can you win championships when you telegraph such weakness to opposition like this?

Yuvraj, Dhoni, Gambhir and Raina had a never give up attitude in the batting department even under immense pressure which is why we won in 2007 and 2011. The same attitude was gone in 2014 with Yuvraj come back disaster and Dhoni becoming a percentage player rather than a fighter.

Not a single player in current team inspires such confidence probably because the team constantly keeps selecting stars over team contributors. We keep picking Jadeja for a mythical all-rounder like Yuvraj to save us but by the time he comes to bat the game is already over 99% of the time. Even Bumrah is culprit of this where he consistently chokes under pressure.

1. Rohit

2.Jaiswal + (12) --1 more Opner

3.Kolhi

4.Sky

5.Pandaya

6.RInku

7.Jitesh +(13) --1 more keeper

8.Jadeja

9.Kuldeep +(15)--1 more spinner --Chahal / Axar

10.Bhmrah

11.Singh +(14)--1 more Pacer-- Mukesh

Do not think Mayank or any other newbie out side this group fits in. Even Rinku will find it hard to make into playing 11 without Pandya bowling fit

I advise BCCI to pull Mayank out of IPL immediately. Compensate him for IPL money he will lose just to keep him away from injuries till T20 WC.

Mayank needs to play in different conditions against different batters..  So far PBKS and RCB batting line ups don't have that kind of firepower.

Want to see him against KKR SRH and especially MI in Wankhede.

Boy needs to be battle hardened before T20 WC.

Though I do wish BCCI needs to take regular update on his workload.  He should himself be mindful of diving in the Outfield or anything.

Bowling 8 overs in a week is not much of a issue.

Drop Jadeja and go with 4 all out attacking bowlers + PANDYA

JADDU offers neither bowling nor batting waste of space.

Rohit

YBJ

Koli

SKY

Pant (spin bash/wk leftie)

Rinku

Pandu

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Mayank

Sai Kishore/Brar (proper spin for Slow pitches)

@Nikhil_cric

Siraj Harshit Jurel in reserves

I like what I saw of Brar .  Gets bounce and is a little different from the darting SLA's .

But this all depends on Pandu's form with bat and ball and his general  fitness .  If he can be a genuine 3rd seamer (at his best , his bowling is gold ) , we can go with this approach

But if he is not fit and in form, that combination is a huge problem because we don't have another seam allrounder whose ceiling is anywhere close to Pandya.

Then we will have to drop Brar and play the extra seamer  .

So then , they will have to play a spin allrounder at 7.

Personally , I want India to be bold and drop Kohli along with Pandya and somehow try to fit both Abhishek and Riyan , our best young T20 batters (who can also bowl ),  but nobody has the cajones to do that

I am obviously trying to make a best possible XI that will be enforced on us.  There is no point in taking a bits and pieces players like Jadeja or Axar.

MY strategy will be to open the bowling with Pandya and Bumrah...  And use Brar for a over as well in first six.

Final PP over to Mayank.

Use Mayank and Kuldeep in Middle phase.  Kill the game right there.

If it doesn't...  I have 3 Bumrah overs in the end to do damage control.

Brar/Pandya overs can be interchanged depending upon conditions and form.

Brar can slog as well..  PBKS bats him ahead of Rabada even

We can't rely on Pandu as 5th bowler. Need a 6th option

Would play Bishnoi as 2nd spinner

Playing 2 specialist spinners has never worked and never will work for us

Lack of prep and planning if pandaya is not bowling as specialist 5th bowler then Rinku misses out from playing 11
