We know what the team composition will look like.  Everyone was hoping these two would just play world cup not world T20. Here we are.  Back to square one.

If we won the WC perhaps all the seniors would have opted out from WT20

Now their hunger is messing things up.

Rohit confirms it

“We have gone with tried (or tired) and tested players” - Agarkar

Rohit

KL

Kohli

SKY

DK

Pandya

Jadeja

Thakur

Bumrah

Siraj

Chahal

S Iyer

Ashwin

Arshdeep

Axar

Agarkar - “The 11 has batting depth till #8, Chahal was unlucky to not get to play in 2022 but will get opportunities in WI, DK once again shone at Wankhede and we could use his experience in the 11, KL keeps maturing every year and will also serve as the backup WK, Kohli has been consistent in the IPL, Rohit has improved his SR, Bumrah & Siraj can bowl at any stage of the game, SKY looks at his best, and Hardik, Jadeja, & Thakur can chip in any department. There is no offie in the 11 but Ashwin will be in squad should the team need him. Other back ups include S Iyer, Axar, and Arshdeep. This is the best possible squad that we could have picked and it covers all bases.”

Likely Team and Squad  ( not my choice )

1. Rohit

2. Jaiswal

3. Kohli

4. SKY

5. Rahul ( wk )

6. Hardik

7. Jadeja

8. Shardul / Chahar

9. Bumrah

10. Kuldeep

11. Arshdeep

12. Gill / Rinku

13. Samson ( wk )

14. Axar

15. Mukesh

Rahane is one of the dark horses. Jaiswal is not in form and if Dhoni says that Rahsne is in good nick then he maybe picked. His experience and ability to handle genuine pace will work in his favour.

Mayank's name will be discussed for 15 minutes and it will be decided that he needs more experience and has to wait for his turn to come.

If Avesh can bowl slower than Mukesh in this IPL then his name will be considered seriously. In the WI, we would "need" slow  pacers so that the batters don't have any pace to work with.

DK can replace Samson as backup keeper if he continues to perform this way. His vast experience can be a huge boost to this team's chances.

This team is so good on paper, with stellar names and vast experience, that no one can be and should be blamed when they lose. Even a first round exit should not be questioned because it is not " possible " to leave out any of these experienced players or slow pacers.

Very likely squad. Except Pant might make it ahead of Rahul. If anything, the selectors will pick Rahul ahead of Samson as back up keeper and back up opener

One of sharma or kohli instead of both is better, someone should sacrifice

If i had to pick one i would pick Rohit. He atleast has IPL win experience as leader. Virat, despite brilliant individual performance and good team, has failed at critical junctures with nothing to show as leader or senior member.

If only we can find a spot - somehow - for Pujara in that lineup <sigh>.

1. Rohit

2. Dhawan

3. Pujara

4. Kohli

5. Rahane

6. Rahul

7. Hardik

8. Jadeja

9. Ashwin

10. Bhuvi

11. Mukesh

Batting till 10 ... bowlers so slow that batsmen will doze off while waiting for the ball to come and will get out ... team spirit will be high as almost all are part of the same laughing club for the aged.

Kohli, KL, current Hardik and Jadeja in the top 7.

Low strike rates, no batting depth, no batting allrounders, only 1 left hander in Top 6  -  BCCI's idea of a world class T20 side.

Pakistan Zindabad .   Hopefully, they can brutally thrash this team in front of a majority Yankee Indian crowd.

Supporting Ireland over us as well

Even with Rohit and Kohli, a winning team can still be build. They have to just make sure

1) No KL. This is cruicial because Kohli and KL batting together will suck all the momentum. ( like it happened on Nov 19- in post match Cummins mentioned that they deliberately wanted KL and Kohli to bat maximum overs)

2) Axar / Jadeja on No. 8. Either of the two can come at No. 8  and play as bowling allrounder.

3) Play seven batters two of whom can cover 4 overs.

Jaiswal

Rohit

Kohli

Sky

Pant

Dube

Pandya

Axar/ Jadeja

Kuldeep

Bumrah

Arshdeep

Reserves

Abishekh/Parag

Rinku

Bishnoi

Mayank

- Above team has 4 left-hander and 4 right-hander in top 8.

- 4 genuine bowling options + Pandya + Dube ( if needed)

- options to be flexible even in reserves for e.g parag can come in for Dube in or Mayank for Arshdeep
