If you add that Kohli's average goes further down to 30. ROhit suddenly gets an average over 53. Probably a quarter final specialist. Just checked. Just 1 quarter final he played against Bangladesh made 137.  Raina has 65  vs BD & 34 vs Australia.

raina was clutch. rohit isn't bad, gave good starts in 2019 and 2023, though he misfired in SF and F, respectively.

no, first round is not KOs in general. some of super 6s could be, and obviously QFs are KOs too

To be honest, QFs don't have as much pressure as SFs and finals. At QF stage, you are one of 8 teams. In the world of cricket, that comprises pretty much all the competent teams in the World. SFs have some pressure, but in finals, it is exponentially more. At final stage, you know it is the last match and win or losss will make you a hero or a zero. A match-winning knock in a final will be remembered forever. SFs won't be remembered as much and QFs even less. The only QF stuck in memory is the India-Pak 1996 one.

India Australia 2011 QF at Ahmedabad was another tense affair, especially since it was against the Mighty Australians who have the reputation of rising to the occasion.. I don't think QFs have much less pressure, afterall it's a knock out match, you lose one match and your journey is over.

We don't have many memorable QFs because we usually don't have them during the World cups, it's the usual First Round followed by Semis and the Finals..

2011 Aus one was a crucial match.

Let him miss the warmup if he must but the team has started training there and Kohli is the only one missing ?

hardly a surprise. king operates as per his own rules: doesn't need the mere practice, which is for mortals only.

He will definitely score runs. He knows how to score lol But it won't be impactful. He has no other skills other than dropping catches. He will just show some fake aggression and his job is done.

Excellent.

I guess BCCI will as usual stay mum on this case. Superstar or not, when the team has travelled for WC, he should also have went there with them.

BCCI is good at being a pussy (note: I am not using the vulgar slang meaning here) when it comes to the soopahstahs

Why does someone who scored 650 runs in IPL need a practice match anyway lol

More to acclimatize to the climate/ adjust to the jetlag / lighting of the stadium

Classic Virat Kohli....

- Plan his baby exactly before IPL and misses an important series vs England
- Join RCB 3 weeks before IPL in a pre season camp
- Be supreme fit for full 2 months not missing a single IPL game
- Again need a vacation break before a not so important world cup for the country
