yea.. they dropped Ashwin in all the wrong matches. Also backed him in the wrong matches. Pitch reading or lack there of is half the reason why India is not realizing its full potential for the last few years.

I think Washi can step up and deliver with the bat if given a proper chance.  meaning not batting at #7 etc. but in the top 6 if not top 5. 

 

Jaiswal, Jurel, Gill, KLPD - these are the guys whose performances will decide the series - Pant will do Pant things, but you can't expect him to bail you out consistently. If rest of the team is falling apart, his inconsistency will come under the microscope which it really shouldn't.

 

 

Interesting that you put Harshit right after Boom - that is some seriously high praise for an unproven commodity...

I expect Boom to pick 4 man bowling unit on what he feels is the best chance to get 20 wickets.  Based on that, I think Ashwin does have a good chance of making it in, problem is his fitness.  And if Ashwin is in, Sundar as 2nd offspinner - his bowling value offered reduces quite a bit.  I still think Washi should be in the mix because I believe in him as a batter.  But if DDP is in, and Ashwin is in the XI, I think that means Washi is out...

Although I don't have much hopes on KL, his entry due to other absentees might turn out to be a blessing in disguise for this line-up, where everyone else is in ODI mode. If KL is a little less tentative, his slow nature of batting might help us, just like how Chopra/Vijay did so admirably in the past. Chopra especially was so critical in that 2003/4 effort. 

Having Washi at 3 would be great, given that he has Aus success.

Pant has been the MOST consistent batsmen for us since 2020. In most series he has played he had the most runs for India and in the rest he had second most.

 

So Pant has been in top 2 run scorer in EVERY single series since 2020.

 

Even in the NZ series he is the highest run getter from BOTH sides.

 

How on earth is he "inconsistent"?

Washi should be frontrunner and even Jadeja has better case due to the 10fer. Ashwin has no case
