Bumrah was available to be used exclusively in SENA countries as Umesh was enough to rattle the opposition in the home conditions. Now Ishant and Umesh are gone and we have just one replacement in the form of spring chicken Siraj. Akashdeep isnt trusted by Rohit and hence is underbowled in every test he has played so far. Now our batters have gone old, so is our spinners and so does the pacers. Even the replacements playing in A team are around 29-30 years old. Not many under 22-23 players are given opportunities. During transition this was expected.
ash Posted November 11, 2024 Posted November 11, 2024 Completely agree with Ashwin, asking players to apologise and ask sorry is pathetic. If they don’t perform, drop them, as simple as that. This is just a sport, why should players apologise to us?? Just because they earn crores doesn’t mean they are our servants..

It's not just a sport when you are earning crores. It's business and no one wants loss making business.

This thing is overblown, at our peak our batters were also putting out massive scores consistently but on generally flat pitches! Check the entire span between 2013-2021 (Eng series) & barring a few games we mostly had good/flat wickets! I'd argue the big issues started with that BS WTC & I've always maintained since 2021 as well that it's worthless given the venue & how the entire structured is planned. With that WTC excuse we started producing even more ragged turners & that hurt us massively post 2021 - including this year & the last against Oz Ishant was never that good in India except for a brief period 2007-11 at most, Umesh/Shami/BK & just before them Zaheer were the biggest match winners at home among pacers! We need flatter tracks & anyone advocating for turners should get the * out of this setup, be it RGS or GG * Junior Shah as well Edited November 11, 2024 by R!TTER nevada 1

Coz Aus select players based on performance. No way someone like Kohli and KL who've been failing for ages get selected automatically. They dropped Steve Waugh for 2003 WC despite him winning the WC in 1999! Can you imagine it ever happening in India? Here players will play for a decade more based on past achievements. Look at Kohli. He has been failing in Tests for more than 5 years - yup, that's half a decade! And yet no repercussion. They'll blame the coach and drop youngsters who need backing but won't drop the seniors who deserve to be dropped. You expect seniors to step up their game but in India it's the youngsters who're supposed to cover up for senior players' mess and if they can't do so they're the ones dropped and not the actual has beens. I specifically only talked about pacers, coz we don't have backups there at all. Else, we have an old team with batters, spinners and pacers all on decline. Little bit of challenging condition and our batters too explode instead of battling out hard. Jaiswal is out chasing the wide deliveries, Sarfaraz is hitting everything in the air. Kohli & Gill are dancing to the tunes of even mediocre spinners while Rohit is playing like someone suffering from chronic diarrhoea. Australian conditions might suit us better as bounce is the only worrying factor once the ball gets old.

Australia's strength is their bowling and big scoring by 1-2 batsmen at any given time like Smith, Labu at one point, Khawaja, and Travis Head of late.

With pressure to win as much as possible, shoddy pitches are being used and this has backfired spectacularly. Our batters' confidence has nosedived and bowlers have become my complacent. Just prepare neutral pitches and play good cricket, win or lose. What's the point of dodgy pitches where the game is over on the third day?

Agree that current lot is over staying. Look at Max, never seen him playing well for Aussie, come the important match -smashed Afghans, made Aussie's entry to Final and win the wc. Warner overstayed but he was brilliant HTB,used to smash opposition for fun at home. Our players can't even play at home.

They aren't - you think their last two losses vs us at home wasn't due to pressure? Generally speaking when you are under pressure that's when you underperform, but (mental)pressure in & of itself is oblique for the most part. The best team ever, peak WI in the 80's period, did what Oz emulated in the 2k a few decades before them! They were also pretty good at absorbing pressure - that's what most people don't get who I guess aren't adept consistently at it. The thing about handling pressure is that you have to do it sometimes for extended periods of time & if you buckle early, or late, the result's usually the same i.e. failure. Oz stay in the game longer than most teams, not always but enough makes to make it count. But again tests is a different matter & there results have been a mixed bag at best post 2007/08 after their greats retired.
