Yesterday after the match Iyer said that he was not supposed to play the match but Kohli got injured.

So it seems like Gambhir is pushing for Yashaswi's inclusion.

No doubt in his current form Yashaswi is one of the best batsmen in the world who should be in the XI, but it also unsettles the combination and needs a few spots to be tinkered with. More so, no. 4 has been such a long term issue for us, why unsettle that. Iyer seems like an easy target here.

Thoughts ?

Imagine if we had him in Ahmedabad instead of SKY who was a filthy waste of a spot.

We needed someone down the order & someone to replace Siraj, Jaiswal would not have made too much of a difference! The pitch was such that anyone winning the toss & chasing already had a massive advantage, having said that if RGS doesn't play that *ing slog we'd have at least 50/50 chance of winning there not 10-90 as it ended up after our innings ended

Yashaswi is the best batsman in India currently, if not the world.

This is  strange poll.

What next?

To sustain life, is drinking water good or bad?

It is not good to replace some other essential nutrients with water.:--D

Iyer has the capability to win us the CT alone !  Also, there is no sly dog this time.

You guys are over rating Iyer way too much, he is a very limited, average batsman.

It's like when Indians used to over rate trundlers because they had few economical spells and ignore real fast bowlers. Iyer is the batting equivalent of that.

Just like MSD had that rotation policy in Australia triseries during 2011-12 that only 2 out of 3 of Sehwag,Tendulkar and Gambhir will play in the XI ; We now are reaching a scenario where one of the two of Rohit and Virat can play in the XI.

What's bad about it? Jaiswal is our best batter at the moment and should've been playing for the last couple of years. Iyer deserves to play as well. It's Kohli and Rohit who're the problems. BCCI and the selectors are not doing their job as ideally there should be no spot for the two passengers.

What we saw in BGT will happen in ODIs as well where we try to fit in 9 players into a 11 man team with 2 passengers already slotted in. So deserving players like Jaiswal, Iyer, or Pant will have to miss out just to meet our "passenger" quota of 2.

Based on IPL performances, I rate Venky Iyer as a better all round player than Dance India Dance Iyer.

It's not whether Iyer is world beater. It's more to do with the fact that he's better than Rohit, Kohli and KL and still can't get into the side. In an ideal world Iyer should be in the team along with Pant, and those 3, especially Rohit & Kohli, should be missing out.

Rinku Singh is the future GOAT. Mark my words. Yashasvi, Gill, and then Rinku.

He will light up the IPL and cast aside the right-handed batriarchy.
