These bilateral, meaningless knocks are as useful as those double tons scored against SL in bilateral series or Kohli averaging 60+ and scoring all those 100s while chasing in bilateral series.

 

The real Test is ICC tourneys or Away Tests. And neither Kohli or Rohit have done anything. They're typical bullies who come up with these innings and stats in low pressure, meaningless bilaterals and go missing when tougher matches come along.

 

They were there in 2015 WC SF, they were around for the 2017 CT Final, they were once again present in 2019 WC SF, and also the 2023 WC Final. And every single time they failed. I won't even bring up the Away Tests and WTC final humiliations as apparently "white ball" format is their stronger suite. But even then whenever big games arrive, they implode.

 

All their fans boast about is their useless stats and meaningless bilateral innings. Still waiting for them to replicate such performances in finals of the ICC tourneys where real MVPs like Cummins and Travis Head makes them their bi@tch time and again.

As a mitigation We lost tosses in 3 out of the 4. The CT Final was the only one where we won the toss and still managed to lose. Toss becomes a very important factor in knockouts..

It does but we won the toss in 2017 CT Final, we won in the WTC Final against Aussies. And we lost both. Conversely we lost the toss in 2011 WC Final as well but won the match.

Don'r mix formats. Rohit as a LOI batter is a legend. There is no two ways about it. He has been our top performer in ICC events as well. Remember he was one of the main reasons for India reaching the WC 23 final and also winning the WT20 last year. I am not saying he should continue playing cricket, I feel both Rohit and Virat need to retire after CT 2025 but again there is no denying the fact that he is a goat ODI batter. You can bring the NZ home Test series loss to demean him but again it is not the same format and no one can wipe off losing one format with winning the other.

 

If he gives us few more good starts like he did in 2023 WC against the new ball, that is all we need to progress in the tournament but I agree that he should retire after the tournament is over.
