If BCCI was grooming someone for captaincy, they would definitely be in A. So it's between Bumrah, pant and Gill for captaincy, going forward.

contracts are backward looking.. its given based on games played and not based on potential if I remember

The BCCI did not mention the amounts for the four contract categories, but ESPNcricinfo understands that they are likely to be INR 7 crore (A+), INR 5 crore (A), INR 3 crore (B) and INR 1 crore (C).

 

Kuldeep and Axar could get upgraded.  Most of the new T20 stars are in Grade C. Get a few good ones to Grade B, so we can make sure next T20 WC is also India's.

bcci has a good formula for contract and if they can have so many player under contract there is hardly 1-2 players who are debatable.

 

So its like who brings the most mny to bcci gets the best contract and then test player gets preferences then multi-format players gets, then single format but big name then some newbies which they want to monitor and keep in the loop.

 

Arsh could have been in B but then he only plays1 format

I would've handed Iyer the top contract along with Pant. He's the present and future star of the team. And someone like Patidar shouldn't even be there. I can think of 30 names ahead of Patidar who deserve the contract more.

 

And Ruturaj getting a contract is even worse. At least you can make a case for Patidar in T20s but Ruturaj is a misfit across all the formats. When we're seeing likes of Abhishek, Jaiswal, Suryavanshi, Arya, Mhatre, Raghuvanshi in the mix, who in their right minds would like to go to Rahane like players in Ruturaj?

 

Sai should be our no. 3 batter in ODIs and Tests and him not getting a contract is a joke when Ruturaj and Patidar got one.

Makes sense given that Varun is given a contract only now after winning an ICC event.
