In every game no matter the ground we see sizeable number of yellow jerseys and CSK fans regardless of where the match is being played which feels strange. It feels improbable that they all come of their own volition/are local or that CSK has that many diehard fans in every part of the country. Are there paid fans being ferried across the country like Rajni fanclubs used to book theaters during his movie releases?

Mostly dhoni's fans . He is amongst the most loved and respected cricketer in Ind just after Sachin.

Its like every match could be last match of his so ppl want to see it, Ind team has not won a odi wc since 2011 so those emtns are there too.

Plus he maintains exclusivity, he is not seen doing interviews or appearing on tv he just comes for IPL and then goes about his business.

And Yes some could be csk's fans too 1 of the most successful teams in IPL so ppl like to associate themsleves with success. Alot of ppl liked the Aus team of late 90s and early 00s same as wi team of 70s-80s.

Dohni's achievements and PR are v.good so there will be many fans who would like see him before he retires

Plus when csk is visiting your team its win-win for the fans, csk losses to their team which is a win for the fans and then they get to see dhoni.

I saw little Bambi kids saying in a video post match  Mumbai cha Raja Rohit Sharma but India cha Raja MS Dhoni..  mother saying Sabka baap Dhoni.  They were all in yellow jersey.

MS Dhoni movie made him into a cult hero across India.  As stupid as it sounds it works in India.

CSK  is the  go to  franchise for fans from cities that don't have their own IPL team due to Thala.  RCB has a big fan base due to Kohli.  If you ask me all teams should have fanbase like RCB. It will make IPL even better. MI has no real fan base. It is grossly negligible compared to CSK and RCB.   MI is famous mainly because of the title counts. Even the fans they have are mostly south Indians.

yellow is just an eyesore, why would they choose such a terrible color for their uniforms?

I like Australian Yellow. Infact only one cricket jersey i own is Australia's Jersy from 2003.

Those are dhoni fans. They probably can't even locate Chennai on the map.

Considering his popularity Id say Dhoni should apply for the vacancy in the Vatican.

Pope Thala has a nice ring to it
