He is 30, has never looked international standard in the IPL and his FC stats are good at best.

I think Vaibhav Arora, and maybe Vijay Kumar Vyshak to name two, would have been better options

 

Especially Arora who can get swing with the new ball and is nippy. 

 

As for declaring, tbh my question would be why declare at all with no result In sight

 

Bowlers have had long days let them rest, with an interesting squad match not far away. I suppose Anshul would have been filled with confidence having got two more wickets

Selectors are more inclined towards oldies these days. Great fast bowlers are always nurtured young.

After Vengsarkar the selectors who have followed had/have no vision .

 

Fast bowlers especially should not be subjected to FC grind for more than year.Where are young fast bowlers? They could not find one single guy ?Even if he does not play this series, he could use the experience.

 

You need to  blood some young players purely on talent.Ishant, Kohli, Rohit were all given chances under Vengsarkar.

 

You need fearless young blood to complement experience.That has been missing in last 10-15 years.It has showed up in big spots.

i heard on youtube that ANshul Kambhoj and Khaleel both are being considered to be added into team india.

both of these bowlers performed very well in the india A matches.

i trust that anshul kambhoj , boom, siraj and Prasidh will be 4 pacers in test 11. anshul may be considered ahead of NK reddy and Shardul as anshul can bat very well, though its a truth that he is not as good as nkr and shardul atleast in batting but as a bowler he is better than both.

What's the pitch and weather outlook? 

 

We are so used to thinking of Eng as a swing paradise, but there are so many paTTa wickets these days, that seems to be an outdated opinion.

Good decision if true. Will allow the possibility of playing 4 out and out seamers if needed
