SecondSlip Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Would just keep bowling on top of off stump and wait until they edge it be enough?
vvvslaxman Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 They scored 800 runs in Pakistan. I think for one thing whenever they offer chances you have to hold on to it.
Lord Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 Take catches. We did take 20 wickets if you account for that.
figo6762 Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 (edited) Negative lines .. treat the game like t20 .. frequently swap bowlers .. have variety .. play sundar instead of nair slow the game down .. try to get thru 20-80 overs with 4 rpo … first 20 put pressure force play to less than 3.00 rpo .. this will put them under pressure runs are their oxygen cut it .. they will get out we can’t win in shoot out Edited June 24, 2025 by figo6762 nevada 1
Prabhdeep Singh Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 (edited) Kuldeep Bumrah Arshdeep Sundar Akashdeep Variety and Unknown factor. England have not played Sundar and Arshdeep before. Arshdeep a left arm quick who swings it. Kuldeep, chinaman so has mystery. Sundar an off spinner who England have not played before. Can bat as well. Akashdeep, great seam position, a bit like Shami, also can score tail end runs better than others. Bumrah will play 2nd match as enough gap between 1st and 2nd Match. Drop either Sai or Karun or Jadeja for NKR or keep Jadeja in 11. Edited June 24, 2025 by Prabhdeep Singh nitinbwj, bowl_out, tweaker and 1 other 1 3
sage Posted June 24, 2025 Posted June 24, 2025 it should be easier to take wickets against a bazball team than a defensive one nevada 1

England also dropped catch of Rahul in Indian second innings and Pant got a life in second innings missed stumping. That is just excuse.

INdia would have gained a lead of over 150 for sure. Also having some English batsmen early enough is a massive advantage.

vvvslaxman Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 As per calculation raw number was 161 runs. Jaiswal drops cost India. Intangible element like having new batsman early enough has not been factored in. A match losing fielding performance. Also on flat pitch like that it is hard to create chances. It demoralizes bowlers. THey cannot just go back to their mark and create another chance just like that. These are not some journeymen they are bowling to. Root, Brook, Pope, Duckett have all been successful against India. nitinbwj 1

jf1gp_1 Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 Not the ideal start but team will improve. This cycle is for team development.
Frustrated Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 (edited) In the 2nd inning, not many catches were dropped by Ind. Yet Eng chased down 375 without breaking a sweat. This implies that poor fielding is not the only reason behind our humiliating losses. It's poor bowling too. The inability to pick wickets. And the only bowlers who picked wickets in 2nd innings (Thakur & Prasidh) consistently conceded runs at 7 Per over. So, taking wickets didnot help the team in any way. The thing is we don't hv a single bowler of intl std right now who can give us crucial breakthroughs in SENA conditions. And it's only going to get worse from here. Edited June 25, 2025 by Frustrated
rkt.india Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 On these flat pitches, 300-400s won't work. You need bigger scores, batsmen to bat longer. Fast scoring means there is more time to get result in the game. Batting time matters more than just runs. Test becomes extended ODI. Lord 1
tweaker Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 To take 20 wickets against England team we need strategies implemented against each batsman. The strength and weakness of each batsman should be accessed. Bowlers should target the weakness of the batsman. If our bowlers are able to not make the batsman score one boundary per over,or strangle them for runs ,they will make mistakes. We need bowler who can bowl with line and length and can bowl maidens. The bowlers who were not able to defend 370 runs on.5th day should be punished. Siraj is the biggest culprit inspite of taking 100 wickets he bowls without any plan, discipline. Akashdeep, Rana,Arshdeep, Sundar, Kuldeep, Reddy should play nd test
diga Posted June 25, 2025 Posted June 25, 2025 (edited) while I agree with the ineptitude shown by our team, too frequently we are seeing the incidents of opposition complaining about Dukes ball. Does anyone suspect Eng of fixing the box ? Edited June 25, 2025 by diga express bowling 1

Your point would have made sense if England ran away with their dropped catches and scored 600 plus.

He went on to make 149. So that did cost us. A wicket right there could have enabled us to apply more pressure
