Time to address the 4th innings modest chases, BCCI would you listen?

Doesn't this side need some mental conditioning especially in chases like these we have lost uite a number of tests which were offcourse winnable in last 7-8 years

That could have improved our SENA CV massively, even at home we failed to chase against NZ

Something needs to be done, this seems a free fall

Coaches, BCCI top brass needs to arrest this slide ,guys like Jaiswal have to take more responsibility

We try to kill the chase and go aggressive early but one or 2 wickets falling makes us seize up and become nervous wrecks. We end up losing the game in the first few overs itself.

Yep other captains should bat first everytime vs us. Even 150 is enough

This side is getting into a hole,

A hole where they don't believe they can chase anything over 180 or 200 against a decent attack

They need a major reboot in thought process, the top order has to play it as test not even semi odi

Yep this one is totally on top order batting yesterday. 40/1 at stumps would have been very easy chase

Problem with the batters are we are stats focussed populace and no batter is free to play strokes as they might lose the wicket and chance of getting dropped. We need to select 5-6 batters and stick with them no matter what and asked them to score freely. This is the only way we can chase scores , if every one is worried about playing one shot will lose their wicket , they would be nervous wrecks to score runs in a chase and its difficult to win any matches.

It's the lack of batting skill & execution. (On tricky pitches) Nothing to do with mentality.  If u see, Jaiswal tried to attack..Failed.  Every other batter tried to defend...still Failed.   Except Jaiswal no batter gifted his wicket by playing rash shot, still the result remained the same. ie massive failure.  Our batters (incl Gill) think they are world's best after stat padding on flat pattas. On a slightly tricky surface they barely last 10 balls.  Look at Gill's score in this test.   16 & 4.  LOL.   We need better batting coach.  Rathore & similar no name coaches hv spoiled it totally.

Nair and kela had a decent partnership, just then Nair made a blunder by offering no shot to a delivery which was coming in with the line, you dont expect this kind of error in judgement by someone who has  tons of FC experience

This was 90s kind of leave when we had no drs

The biggest problem is our best batsman bats at 5 who is a keeper and then tail starts at 6.

We lost 7 wickets in MCG test in last session to lose the match. 72 for 13 in first test in England.

Which test team has gone to dominate world cricket with 5 batsmen ?

Australia had Gilchrist coming in at 7, England had Prior batting at 7. Even now Australia have a policy of playing 5 best batsmen in the country in top 5, a batsman who can roll his arm at 6 and a solid keeper bat at 7. Then all 4 bowlers are wicket takers.

More than that I feel lesser A tours are also responsible for this agree on rathore though

How can a team bat so well in first 3 innings and then consistently fare worse than WI, Pak, SL, BD come the 4th innings?

Reminds me of how we always conceded late goals in hockey. Like 2003 CT opener against Netherlands where we led 3-0, and then conceded 4 goals in final 5 minutes to lose 3-4; also that Poland late equalizer in Sydney Olympics haunts me till date@neel roy.

But Australia has cummins at 8 who is no mug with bat, lyon and starc can hold bat as well, England has woakes and carse even atkinson has century,nz too have bowlers who can bat, ours are too one dimensional

Everything to do with mentality. We just needed to bat 20-25 overs then ball would be old. Jaiswal wicket sent the panic in the dressing room. Way too early to try that shot. Karun also threw it away

Mentally weak. Affects all our sportspersons, remember how we missed so many medals in the Olympics because our people couldn't hold their nerves? How our archers always fold when heat is on?

Indian test team also mostly loses close matches. The ones we win, we dominate and win convincingly.

same goes for badminton. Lakshya sen. Sania bhupathi in Olympics semis. We start well and we cant keep our nerves in last 10 mins. Poland goals pain faded actually when we won two bronze medals in last 2 Olympics. At least the hockey team in both bronze level matches were clutch.

We have to end this stupid obsession with allrounders

Play 6 specialist bats pant and 4 specialist bowlers with time maybe 1 out of these 4 bowlers will learn to bat

Low level intelligence and fitness of Indians is main caus eof such embarrassment again and again
