maniac Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 I know everyone is praising Jadeja’s knock or talking about Rahul’s comeback but how many of us had confidence that they will finish the game especially when it gets tight. That’s because these gave a history of choking in tight games. They are the most experienced cricketers in the team but still give you 0 confidence. maybe Jadeja has bowled some good match winning spells on dustbowls but that’s about it. these guys are always very good utility players at best but not X factor match winning cricketers. nevada 1
Number Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 (edited) For me the game was decided when Pant got out. We would lose by 50 runs or 1 run but we will lose. I would have had some hope if somehow Reddy and Sundar built a partnership but with Jadeja you never get a vibe that he can finish the match with the bat. vvvslaxman Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 He has scored 61 out of 170 runs. In the famous Laxman Ishant partnership of 81 runs in 130 balls , Ishant faced 92 balls. Laxman faced 38 balls. Laxman ended up on the winning side because Ojha played another 10 ball in the last wicket partnership of 20 ball. At the end of the day this heroic single handed wins like what Stokes did needs a bit of luck and special skill. Same way in the Edgbaston 5th test he made 100, Pant made 146. India had a significant lead in the first innings. All our mahartis had to do was putting up a decent second innigns score. Failed once again. cricspirit, New guy, rollingstoned and 1 other 4
vvvslaxman Posted July 14, 2025 Posted July 14, 2025 As far as Kela goes winning position is kryptonite for him. He unusually finished in the final and he admitted he was sitting bricks.. if you can't protect your wicket due to pressure then you become an automatic.loser. when Kela got out ball slowly was losing its potency. Survival of two more overs would have put us in different situation. deepdynamo 1

But the predictably after the ball got softer almost it was ungetouttable situation. So it was imperative top 5 surviving for 40 overs and giving next 40 to lower order. Jadeja walked in at 21st over. Not ideal. Both Stokes and Archer were in the middle of a fiery spell Lord 1
Gollum Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Jadeja is a matchwinner for home tests. KL is a loser. nitinbwj 1
Bigg Brother Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Jadeja is supporting player as batter, will never win you matches in pressure. KLR is pure match loser, 60 tests old and still the same old meek, loserish vibes he gives. Goenka was right in discarding KLR. nitinbwj, maniac, raki05 and 1 other 3 1
vvvslaxman Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Pant/Jaddu combo is always box office. Too bad we lost Pant. They are the best pair complementing each other. One guy blunts. Other guy blitzes cricspirit 1

urbestfriend Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Jadeja - Hell no. He can never win a match alone. He can play second fiddle to someone like Pant or Gill at best in batting and only matchwinner in dustbowls where any other decent spinners can take wickets against Gora teams. Kela - He has improved and could be potential match winner on his own in tests, but he gets bogged down easily. I dont blame him for the current test where he played decent cricket.

Kela is the reason why we lost in a way. He dropped a catch. Can happen. But Pant's run out is the pivotal moment. In the 2nd innings he got a life. He shoudl have made the most of it. He should have atleast seen off first session. Bottled it. Overall mujrim despite a 100.
cricspirit Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Jadeja has winning mentality and has will to fight despite his limited ability as in range of shots. He is not limited in concentration or patience. Just because Jadeja doesnt have ability to do it all by himself or hasn't done that Epic save doesnt mean he is not a match winner. He has helped India win numerous tests over last decade along with Pant and Ashwin. Yesterday he missed his Epic but who knows a bit of luck, another 10 runs and and then rush to finish. KL RAHUL is the opposite. Way more ability and range of shots but can't fight. He doesnt have the body language at all.
Gollum Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 (edited) Too much disrespect and misinfo about Jadeja. His innings yesterday must be called out for the garbage it was, his stats obsession, selfishness must be criticized. But never ever ever ever deny the greatness of Jadeja the test player. He is one of the most valuable players in SC conditions, like top 5 material in the history of test cricket, has done more in Australia than any of these Roots or Stokes, his partnership with Rahane in MCG 2020 or 4fer in SCG '20 1st innings are bigger than what whole of England have achieved downunder in their last 3 tours. Heck he is a more reliable batsman in SENA than all these Poms barring Root. And no he isn't some dustbowl merchant, @R!TTER once shared a stat about Jadeja being one of the best ever on flat pitches in SC, can't find it now. But this is a guy who completely outbowled peak Lyon in Aus in 2 series, never forget that. Also if by definition all Indian pitches are dustbowls, Jadeja with 40+ average is an ATG batsman....twist it anyway you want, you guys ain't putting Jaddu down. As players, there is no comparison between these two, this thread is insulting. One will be on Mount Rushmore of Indian test cricket, other won't be a part of our 3rd AT XI. Gollum Posted July 15, 2025 Posted July 15, 2025 Our people are such brown sepoys, make Stokes appear like a God for his okish home performances, all the while undermining Jadeja for his incredible home dominance for over a decade. Forget India, let Stokes match Jadeja in Australia, a series they hype up so much. cricspirit and rollingstoned 2

With KL, you always get the feeling of "so near yet so far." I think the whole body-language thing is over-rated (I don't give a damn about body language), but he has a knack of getting out just when you think "this is the innings that defines him." Gollum 1

Getting out to Bashir was ridiculous. That was an absolute nothing ball. Wonder him running Pant out was still playing on his mind.
