I refuse to believe we don’t have better fast bowlers than Thakur and Kamboj in Indian domestics.

There are much better bowlers. But Gambhir doesn't want more than 2 bowlers who are weak batsmen. Those 2 spots are taken up by Bumrah and Siraj. All other bowlers must be able to bat a bit to make it to Gambhir's XI.

Test class bowlers? I am not sure. Everybody is unproven. We just have to throw everyone in the deepend one by one and iterate them. What worked for us few years back we had a unit each one doing better than the other in certain conditions with Bumrah being the all condition bowler. We cannot take 3 hit the deck bowlers to England and complain about them. Same way you can't take floaty bowler to Australia and complain. You need different type of bowlers. For instance Akash deep looks much better in England than in Australia.  So we need to focus on unit rather than collection of individuals.

Forget the fast bowlers.. even Kuldeep Yadav is finding hard to gain a place in the xi

As per the latest TM, they need bowlers who can "bat".

Siraj & Bumrah hv occupied the slots of non batting bowlers. We need to get rid of one to inject someone else.

India needs a stand out bowler to relax that restriction. If we are going to bring in guys like Prasidh who is worse than bowling all rounders they might as well go with bowling all rounder. How good a bowler you should be in order to be one-dimensional (someone who sucks at batting and fielding)? What is the threshold. I say you should have a strike rate of 50 bare minimum. ER should be below 3. Avge has to be in the early 20s.

I think we need to give kamboj a bit of go og 3-4 matches atleast he is just 24 and has shown some glimpses of being a thinking bowler

 

I am fed up of retards like siraj who have nonidea what to bowl even after 35 matches

Avg in early 20s is a pipe dream.

Hardly any pacer in our entire history had avg under 25 except Bumrah.

 

Prasidh had one of the better nos in FC, avg less than 25 and SR of 42..yet he couldnt graduate to a higher level.

 

We need to move away from numbers and actually pickup the bowlers who are young and can improve with guidance. Kaverappa has height like Prasidh, but he lacks pace...Gurnoor has good numbers and he is tall as well, Yudhvir hit jackpot in last season and if he can replicate this season as well..he should get an opportunity. Gurnorr & Yudhvir can bat as well like Akashdeep.

We will not get any ready made fast bowlers. We will have to put up with the pain and develop them hoping we find the ones with the right raw materials who can serve us in international cricket going fwd. We are paying for 4-5 yrs of negligence and just coasting along with what we had along with spin friendly pitches at home which never incentivised this. Developing fast bowlers well is an exception and not norm considering our cricketing history, for the most part we produced swing trundlers.

Correct, and since now we dont have the ready made quality bowlers in pipeline...selection commitee and TM are getting restless and throwing random players in hoping one of them miraculously performs. There is no time left for grooming the new fast bowlers.

 

Harshit was thrown in Australia, one failure and he is out. Despite him showing potential in T20s and ODIs, there is no support from mgmt. Now this new kid Kamboj is the new saviour of face.

Siraj also debuted in 2020 BGT only because of injuries. These things happen by accident.

Harshit Rana has all the ingredients of becoming an international quality pacer.

 

Pace of 136 k to 146 k in red ball cricket, zip off the deck, height, ability to hit the deck hard, bounce, ability to seam the ball, bowl big inswingers, bowl good bumpers, thinking ability, competitive mentality, low FC average before test debut etc.

 

Plus he is just 23 and has time to develop.

 

Plus there is some batting ability which GG is supposed to like. 

 

Agarkar & GG, dropping him from the squad, is the biggest blunder they made from the point of pacer pool development.

 

It is possible that Harshit still would have looked a Work in progress on this tour. But he would have developed for the future.
