Why are India resting Bumrah?

Weather for day 1 looks like either a shorter day or a wash out.

 

Pitch looks conductive for seam which means long spells for pacers are not likely.

 

Bumrah should be in a position to bowl 30 to 35 overs across 2 innings.

 

India have home series in test vs windies coming up when he can be rested. Icc t20 wc in india sl is in march 2026 or 7 months away.

 

Dumb dumb dumb if he does not play....

There are reports that Bumrah is going to retire from tests.

India should be able to win without Bumrah. With 5 proper bowlers, they should be able to beat an English team missing Stokes.

I can understand if he skips a test here or there in a series. But if he is not able to last a full test series, accept that and move on. Either ignore him for tests or don’t pick him for a long test series.

Bumrah is injured. He suffered calf injury in third test, played 4th half fit. He was trundling in 4th test. A trundling bumrah is no better than kamboj.

He's injured. You could see that in the 4th Test itself. Bumrah shouldn't play more than 2or 3 Tests a series. And it's time we stick to 4 Test series at max. 5 Tests is way too long and these days it's asking way too much from the players.

 

Instead of key players missing out due to injuries, I would rather cap Test series to 4 Tests. Major series should be 4 Tests and most of the other series 3 Tests, and the ones with teams at the bottom of the table could be limited to 2 Tests.

Bumrah was half fit , Siraj also looked out of gas. Both should hold the bench in oval.

Bumrah injured his calf late in the 3rd test. Just before that, he was bowling a 142 k to 145 k hostile spell but dropped to 134 k to 140 k immediately after. Was worried about him since then.

 

He obviously carried that injury into the 4th test. 

 

But at no point was an injured Bumrah comparable to a fit Kamboj in terms of pace or accuracy.

 

Injured Bumrah was bowling 132 k to 141 k. Lots of balls in the 137 k to 139 k range. Saw 3 balls at 140 k+. [  Bumrah was bowling 137 k to 145 k / 147 k in the earlier tests and so he seemed much slower in Test 4 ]  Hitting the bat hard after his first 10 overs. Was reasonably accurate and got decent bounce later on. 

 

Fit Kamboj was bowling 123 k to 136 k. Usually hovered around the 126 k to 128 k. Not hit the bat hard at all. Poor accuracy.

 

Unfit Bumrah was still much better than fit Kamboj. 

 

My worry is aggravating Bumrah's injury if he plays.

I want Bumrah to play till 2027 atleast in Tests.

Why to do what?He is not going to be a factor in any SENA series moving forward with these injuries.India should move on and should plan to pick 20 wickets without him.

 

Let him be useful in shorter formats.

He has a calf injury. You don't mess with those. Ask Tyrese Halliburton or anyone who ripped their Achilles after downplaying a calf injury.

When you have bozos like Agarkar and Gambhir in charge this is what you get.When you select Kambhoj as injury replacement that should have been end of both bozos.

Kamboj? Rana? Akashdeep? Arshdeep? Khaleel? India will go to the dark days of 90s the day Bumrah and Shami officially retire
