gakgupta Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 A tours play a major role for identifying, nuturing and shaping the pace bowlers and also batsmen. I used to enjoy those A tours a lot -- why doesnt india dont do it anymore? We can cut down on ranji games or other dmoestic games and increase the number of A tours BacktoCricaddict 1
BacktoCricaddict Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 And in these down-times, I would even watch those if they are televised.
zaqw222222 Posted August 15, 2025 Posted August 15, 2025 I think Aus A team is coming to India in September
tweaker Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Selectors should select a fresh A team.Fast bowlers, pace bowling allrounder, should be identified and given more matches express bowling 1

Not sure how good a leader he is. He led India to win in U19 world cup. India can consider him as captain.
Suhaan Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Don't need Avesh,Deshpande,Unadkat,Kamboj or trundler dominated fast bowling attack being picked again express bowling 1
Chaos Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 No way cricketers can survive alll these games they play plus play these first class games. They need diff players for different formats.
rkt.india Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 A tours are there. We had A tour to Australia in November. A tour to England in June. Two A tours in 6-8 months.
ShoonyaSifar Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 Maybe track the news and you will know we had an India A tour of Australia last year, an A tour of England after IPL,will have Aus A touring us in September. In 2023-24, India A toured South Africa, before that Ind A and NZ A played a series as well. That's roughly 12-13 unofficial tests in a 2 year time frame. Good enough no. of matches. If you really enjoyed those A tours earlier as you say, you would know about them! Sai Sudharshan jumped others in the queue because he performed in both Eng and Aus A tours, as did Prasidh or even Kamboj, who everyone was gushing about after the Eng A tests. Jurel is another who has enhanced his status through A team performances IndianRenegade, Chakdephatte and rollingstoned 3

It has to be a mix. FC season perfomers need a motivation as well and Duleep trophy, then A team selection as pathway to a national team spot has to be the route, with exceptions for player with a higher bar. In any case, who are those fast bowlers and pace bowling all rounders not being picked for the A side? Almost all express pacers are either injured or haven't bowled in FC cricket for months (Umran Malik, Kuldeep Sen, Mayank Yadav, Simarjeet Singh, Kartik Tyagi). Can't push them to A tours all of a sudden when they are not ready or in certain cases do not want to play FC cricket

devisreeprasadmahesh Posted August 16, 2025 Posted August 16, 2025 To feature Avesh Khans, Unakdats and Deshpandes? A tours are specifically for baggagees like Avesh and Unakdats tweaker, Suhaan, express bowling and 1 other 1 1 2
AKane Posted August 17, 2025 Posted August 17, 2025 (edited) So what if the Aussies are bringing a young A team - esp the young fast bowlers? For the 4 day games.... Like Aus is going to give an opportunity to the young fast bowlers? It will be Cummins, Starc and Hazelwood for the next few years(at least) - with Boland (not exactly young) coming in as change. (In batting they will keep the Khawaja types around.) Nobody brings in young pace bowlers these days - except maybe SA despite Kolpak. England keeps the Woakes types after the Anderson/Broad era. Else they go with the 30+ year Overton. Aus is same. We just notice India. Actually India gives more opportunity to younger players/other players. Edited August 17, 2025 by AKane tweaker 1
helperononline Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 (edited) We had india A tour with england lions in june and that is the reason we played better against england this series. Check the players who played for India A i.e. jaiswal, rahul, karun Nair, jurel,. Nitish reddy , thakur, https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/india-a-in-england-2025-1486324/england-lions-vs-india-a-2nd-unofficial-test-1486334/full-scorecard Edited August 18, 2025 by helperononline
tweaker Posted August 18, 2025 Posted August 18, 2025 The A team should have players who are needed in team .The A team should have promising young fast bowlers, pace bowling allrounder. The A team should also reward the top players from Ranji season. The highest wicket takers, highest scorers should be in the team. And some places should go to players who are talented and can play for the team. The team should have Yash Rathod,Harsh Dubey,Tilak,Sai,Parag,Ishan,Bawa,Tyagi,Suthar . The A team should not consider Shardul, Avesh,Unadkat,Nair ,Bharat . AKane and devisreeprasadmahesh 2

Callum Vidler the most impressive quick in U19 WC is included in the ODI A squad. Straker is there too. I see in batting they have included Harry Dixon another U19 breakout.. Maybe they are looking to invest in that Talented batch. Although I agree Aussie cricket is struggling with depth these days but if that batch turns it's potential into performance.. Aus will be well served for next decade at least.

Lance Morris was suppose to play this Odi series but got injured again and pulled-out. Aus are in need of fresh talent specially fast bowling. The trio of Aus fast bowling are on their last legs, they still are v.good. Think in white ball to cover-up for their bowling they are now getting big hitter and trying to score big and are ready to chase big.
