KL Rahul - How long is this terrible curse going to stick to the Indian team, Agarkars selection worse than his cricketing skills and Bumrah the big time choker.

People are not really knowing the history. YOu realize how many times we conceded 400, 500 runs in the past frequently? This used to be the norm. Srilanka scored 396 runs in a day and half against us at Brabourne. Sehwag alone scored 287 runs in the next day. We ended up winning that test. At Chennai AMla had a double century or something. After being 100 plus overs Sehwag came in and scored a triple century. Your batting has to step up.

I personally think Pant is not a proactive captain. Seen it many times. In the A game he allowed some secon string players chsae down 400 against almost our main attack.

Everyone can't be leader ,why they just go with pecking order based on seniority,he shouldn't be allowed to lead

Thing is most Indian captains have been dumb, job becomes tougher

Yes, on these flat pitches, you have to score big in first innings and then hope pitch crumbles of day 4-5 and you win. People are just used to the bad pitches recently

However, the issue is, we dont have many batsmen who can score big 100s in our team

We heavily focused on making Gill a poster boy than allowing him to groom as captain in one format. Suddenly he is captain in two formats and vice captain in form at where he doesn't belong.

KL has played 66 test  matches, and averages 35 as a top order test batter.  Take out his stats padding against West Indies and his test average is almost sub-30.

How he keeps finding a place in the test side ahead of Shreyas Iyer is astonishing.  He is a fragile mental midget par excellence.

Bumrah has again showed that he is the opposite of Travis Head as a bowler. Travis numbers are just average - but when it counts he is a monster cluch player.

Bumrah has great bowling numbers, but when it matters, he is a clueless mental midget not much better than KL.

Bumrah can play another 50 test matches and end up with a sub 21 test bowling average, he will still not be 10 % of a Mcgrath or Mitchell Starc.

And finally, who is the AO from BCCI that decided to offer the chief selector role to Agarkar. Whatever Agarkar's shadow touches, becomes **** level, somehow.

You should stop watching test cricket if you think thats even a debate. Iyers wont buy a run if he opens in Tests even in Flat indian pitches let alone SENA

How has KL stat padded in Tests? with 10+ hundreds in SENA and having played 70% of his matches overseas?

From what I saw Pant was much more proactive than Gill is on the field. He was constantly trying out things, making suggestions etc. Remember this he has suddenly found himself captain because Gill got injured. In context, keeping SA scoring at a relatively modest rate was OK given the pitch.

In the A game, Pant was not on the field on the day the total was chased. KL stepped in to captain the side I think.

Of the current lot I think Pant is one of the clearer thinkers of the game. He is certainly better than Gill and no one else has the combination of being a sure starter and a reasonable feel for the rhythms of test cricket compared to him.

You are right. The SA first innings is fairly typical for a side batting first in a test in India. Most of the action usually takes place on day 4 and 5 provided both teams keep a hold on the game.

Is that why he gave Kuldeep an "extended" long spell of 5 overs first up in the day, also do you know the avg length of his spells throughout the test or series?

The guy has some traces of a brain in his shoelaces, that's it! Do you remember how many times he threw away his wicket, triggering a massive collapse, with that ugly hoick over midwicket even when the fielder was in the deep?

For anyone comparing him to Sehwag - how many 150+ scores he has? Yes he's been given a higher responsibility in this shite lineup ^ the pitches are generally bad as well but throwing your wicket away in the same *ing way at least 5-6 times, that also resulted in a loss, is way beyond stupid IMO :whack:

He's like a compulsive hooker, except there's no need for a pimp :cantstop:

Who else would you make captain then from the current squad now that the regular captain Gill is out and Bumrah has already turned it down due to fitness concerns? Easy to pick holes..try making a suggestion to solve the issue !

Anyone but guys like Pant who seem to have ADD, ADHD, OCD and so many other anxiety inducing habits! KL was a potential candidate, at least when he was performing better than his current form. You need a calm captain & Pants has shown he usually doesn't have the patience to play the marathon that is test cricket, over 5 days.

Jadeja, Ashwin, Rohit & Kohli were probably the last of the lot who grew up watching non-ipl cricket I think and the rest of the team has grown up watching IPL ...the attention span shows up in batting & the subsequent results in tests

I would back 2013-20 Indian team to win even from this position. Score 550 odd, pitch becomes spitting cobra by end of day 4 and then watch RSA crumble, knock off low target in second half of day 5. Standard formula in traditional Indian pitches.

You don't want KL is okay but the answer is not Iyer who himself says his body can't take test cricket.

Even against Zimbabwe, on the flattest of pitches, against the most innocuous bowlers, Kela will still play with a stick up his Asssss and he was promoted again to be a captain. Only Goenka becoming the head coach of this team will get rid of this parasite.
