He is not a finisher, he is there in the team for a situation that there is mimi collapse and they can sent him in to steady the ship and score at decent rate and then other batters can take over. Its a role, which will be used more and more a kind of anchor batter who will only come to bat if there is situation else you keep him out of the game. It would helped if such batter has some other skill too, which keeps him the team and there are no question why is that player in the team. Rinku does not have power game to hit the ball for 4/6 from the crease he needs to make some momentum to hit 6s, hence his hitting vs spin is not effective these days its hard to use feet vs spin and even if some1 can do it, but doing it consistently is not possible. coffee_rules 1

Besides in T20 you get the lowest quality bowlers as teams usually go for bowlers who can bat a bit. He did thrash prasidh and siraj. Also he is likely to have way better reflexes than these 30 year olds. I am sure he won't play out a maiden like Kela. T20i wc is a big event, have seen multiple Ind super-stars capitulate under-pressure just by the occasion, so in some close game vs good bowler he can come underpressure

Don't think people here want him out, his place in the squad is well deserved. Just that his entry point should be in death overs, against pace. And on sluggish tracks, he isn't necessarily part of our best XI. deepdynamo 1

deepdynamo Posted February 9 Posted February 9 This has been a superb World Cup so far with the first six matches being very competitive. AFG ran NZ very close by piling up 180+ and then took 2 wickets in first 2 overs. NZ class then took over and cantered to victory. IRL has SL on ropes with 100 runs in 16 overs but then panicked and gave away 60 in last 4 overs. In chase, they were on course with 50 needed from 5 overs with 7 wickets in hand but then faltered. But the real stories are the 4 associate nations. NED and NEP were just inches from victories vs PAK and ENG. USA gave real scare to India while SCO were in strong poistion vs WI as well. A proper World Cup unfolding
Lone Wolf Posted February 9 Posted February 9 It's alright WC has just begun. No team looks complete as of now with the way associates are pushing hard. Even a depleted Australia will think they have a shot this time. India is more settled unit, let's hope all of these guys peak at the buisness end.

vvvslaxman Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Come on guys. i have opened a dedidcated thread for Italy. It is one of the most c urious team. Let us log the details there.
Zero_Unit Posted February 9 Posted February 9 4 hours ago, tapandrun said: In white-ball they are trying to emulate what their previous team did, it was team of lot of special batters all peaking at same time. !st most of the top teams have caught up to that, second the new eng batter are not at same level of their previous team was. It takes alot of time to develop such kind of batting skills, that team in Odis was scoring and chasing 300 like they have cheat-code to it. Roy, Baristrow, Morgan, Buttler ... ppl may not remember them for a long time but they changed white-ball cricket. They definitely did, but nothing last forever. Apart from brook and maybe am missing someone else, I don't see anything super amazing coming out from there. So bazball might not be the best strategy when your gun batsmens either retired or not doing the same type of batting anymore.

Tillu Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Most one sided match is happening right now between Zimbabwe and Oman.
deepdynamo Posted February 9 Posted February 9 The most boring day in the world cup. Two one sided games already and the mother of lopsided game yet to come - SA vs CAN. Manucrick 1
