WC was moved out of India just for them, they chose SL when given the option between SL and UAE. They have no problem with SL or arrangements there, or playing other teams. Just doing this nakhra against India. There will be losses for broadcasters and indirectly ICC, lawsuits will be filed and loss of faith in PCB will become deeply entrenched in the psyche of other boards.

If Pak don't show up, their NRR should be calculated assuming they batted 20 overs and scored 0 runs. They will be screwed if they lose any of their games. They can't make it up with NRR

So lets say attachment point is 50 crores and ICC expected 200 crores. So incase there is a forfeit and rain delay ICC will bear first loss of 50 crores and will get paid 150 crores. Basically 50 crores is the excess in easy language. So yeah ICC will make a loss but it ll be curtailed unless the insurance companies invoke force majeure clause ( act of war etc for example that Kings 11 IPL match during the skirmish) but as far as this goes it wont stand.

The All England Lawn Tennis Association, which organizes the Wimbledon tennis tournament, looks set to recoup almost half of its losses from cancelling the event thanks to the $2 million pandemic insurance it has taken out every year for the last 17 years.

 

  • Wimbledon was set to run from June 29 to July 12 this year, but was cancelled for the first time since World War Two, because of the coronavirus pandemic.
  • But according to Action Network sports business reporter Darren Rovell, the organizers are set to receive a $141 million payout thanks to the coronavirus pandemic insurance policy it has paid a total of $34 million for, over the last 17 years.
  • The insurance policy was reported by The Times in March, before the event was cancelled.
  • The AELTC has not confirmed the figures, but told Rovell that the club has “always sought to buy the optimum insurance coverage available.”
  • Forbes has contacted the AELTC for comment.

 

Crucial comment: Ahead of the cancellation, German Tennis Federation Vice President Dick Horsdorff, told Sky Sports in Germany at the end of March: “Wimbledon was probably - as the only Grand Slam tournament many years ago predictive enough to insure itself against a worldwide pandemic, so that the financial damage should be minimized there.”

ICC knew what was going on between India and Pakistan, and still went on to place them in the same group. Years and years, they are doing it. BCCI knew the issues with Bangladesh still went on to allow their players in IPL auction. As a cricket fan, if the match goes on as planned, fans will watch and if it doesn't, they won't. Simple. But these gndus should get the message for once. Fans are also getting tired of this drama. I give zero fcks if there is an IND vs PAK match or not. But clearly ICC cares a lot coz broadcaster do. JUST GET DONE. Stop this nonsense forever. Plan better.

To be fair to Pakistan for whatever reason they have for once shown intent to walk the talk however baseless and jingoistic the underlying reason could be.

 

BCCI could not do that or let go there revenue for once even when innocent tourists were shooted point blank after identifying them as non Hindus.
