Lone Wolf Posted March 10 Posted March 10 (edited) Don't think so our top 6 are all right handers... It will be a disaster or at best a Semi final spot Edited March 10 by Lone Wolf
vvvslaxman Posted March 10 Posted March 10 He is not alone. Everyone wants us to lose but they also believe we are unstoppable. It is hard to go past the fact that we are using kuldeep as a bench player. In any other team he would be no.1 spinner.

Ultimate_Game Posted March 10 Posted March 10 Unless we make major changes to the side, bring in Jaiswal, Sai and retire Jadeja and one other senior (one of Rohit or Kohli), it's not gonna happen. Too many right-handers and a weak batting lineup.
jf1gp_1 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 I really really want us to win it. Aus, SA, NZ, eng all at this moment are better than us. Also by 2031 ODIs will lose all its significance.

Yeah, ODI World Cup maybe in its last leg - 2027 and maybe 2031. 2031 is scheduled to be held in India and Bangladesh so probably will generate excitement in the subcon but heavy dew in Oct- Nov could make it appear relatively pointless impacting ODIs itself.

A lot depends on how the Olympics goes. If cricket manages to capture the world's attention, if it produces a great contest there, no stopping T20 format. Cricket is also locked for 2032 Brisbane. Just for Indian market, I think cricket is going to be a permanent affair for IOC. We had a 20 teams tourney this time, that number may swell up in future editions. Once Olympic medals are up for grabs, more countries will show interest....as such Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, PNG have ok grassroots cricket. Cricket is also one of the fastest growing sports in Japan. I can think of the example of France. They had no field hockey culture, but started investing in the sport for Paris Olympics. They started pouring in resources in the sport some 10-15 years back, and today are the most improved team, world #10 now. They also made semis in last 2 junior WCs. Somethng similar with Belgium, they were a non-entity before early 2000s but have become one of the greatest teams in last 10 years. Couple of years back I read an article which claimed that private universities in Belgium see more participation in field hockey compared to football. Lone Wolf Posted March 10 Posted March 10 What India needs to do is bring a left hand opener (Jaiswal) A left hand middle order player or someone who plays both pace and spin well. Ruturaj vs Tilak Iyer needs to be monitored, I like the guy but he plays only one format. Harder to gauge his form and if he is past it. Can be dumped if it's bad. Sanju vs Kela will be debate after Sanju's heroics. Sanju is excellent hitter of spin and pace and he can cause some serious damage in high scoring Saffer grounds especially Centurion and Joburg. A high pace option from IPL. Bumrah Siraj (maybe) Rana and perhaps Mayank Y or Ashok if they light up the IPL @Nikhil_cric

Planning for any ICC event have to be as if Ind wont have services of Pandaya and Bhumrah.
